Affordable Proposal Mombasa SGR | 3 Days 2 Nights
Mombasa Beach Hotel or similar
You only need one of these to go right. We handle the part you cannot rehearse.
An Affordable Proposal Mombasa SGR package, built for the person doing the asking.
You have probably already decided where. The harder question is how to get her to a beach in Nyali on a specific evening without her working out why, and then how to make sure the moment itself is not ruined by a photographer who did not show or a table set up in the wrong place.
That is the part we take off you. You book a three day coast trip that looks like an ordinary getaway. The train leaves Nairobi at eight, you are on the North Coast by early afternoon, and nothing about day one gives anything away. On the second evening a private setup goes up on the sand while you are both at dinner or on a walk, lanterns lit, and we make sure she is walking towards it at the right time rather than wondering why you keep checking your phone.
Tell us what you want and what you do not. Some people want a photographer hidden at forty metres. Some want nobody there at all. Both are fine. What matters is that you are not managing logistics in the ninety seconds before you kneel.
If you are still weighing where to propose in Mombasa, the case for Nyali is simple. The beach is wide at low tide, the light after five is the best on the coast, and it is fifteen minutes from town so nothing about the evening depends on a long drive going well.
The ring is your department. Everything around it is ours.

About Package
More information about this package
Every room faces the sea: Mombasa Beach Hotel has 152 rooms and each one opens onto a private balcony over the ocean. Useful on the night itself, since the room is where the evening ends and there is no bad view to explain away.
A beach wide enough to set up on: the hotel sits directly on white sand at Nyali, and at low tide the flats run a long way out. That is what makes a private setup possible here without it sitting in the middle of other guests.
The Cavern Beach Bistro: built into the coral rock at the water's edge, which gives you a natural reason to be walking down to the beach in the evening without inventing one.
Gardens that give you cover: mature tropical planting rather than open lawn, so a setup can go up out of sight and be walked to rather than spotted from the room.
Fifteen minutes from town: roughly 7 km from the Mombasa CBD and 1.6 km from City Mall and Nyali Centre, so a ring that needs collecting, a cake that needs picking up or anything else last minute is a short run rather than a problem.
Part of Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels: the group also runs Voi and Ngulia Safari Lodges in Tsavo, so if the answer is yes and you want to keep going, bush nights can be added on the way home.
Package Itinerary
The package itinerary is as follows
Affordable Proposal Mombasa SGR Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi
Day One: An ordinary trip to the coast
Morning. Boarding at Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau for the eight o'clock departure, with the link train from Nairobi Central at 6:40am if you are coming through town. Nothing on this leg is different from any other coast trip, which is the point.
Afternoon. Miritini in the early afternoon, met on the platform, over Nyali Bridge and into the hotel. Check in and take the rest of the day slowly. The beach, the pool, the balcony.
Evening. Dinner at the hotel and a walk on the sand afterwards. Nothing happens tonight.
Day Two: The evening it happens
Morning. Breakfast late, then the beach. The tide pulls a long way out and the flats in front of the hotel are the best walking on this stretch of coast. Behind the scenes we confirm the evening with you, quietly.
Afternoon. The pool, the gardens or the spa. If you want the water there is a snorkelling trip or the glass bottom boat straight off the beach. Meanwhile the setup goes up where it is meant to, on the sand, out of sight of the room.
Evening. Lanterns lit, the light going soft the way it does here after five, and a walk down to the beach that she thinks is a walk down to the beach. The rest is yours. When it is done there is dinner waiting, and the photographer, if you have asked for one, stops hiding.
Day Three: Checkout, then the city
Morning. Breakfast, then the room goes back at ten. Bags into the car, not into a luggage store, and the driver stays with you.
Afternoon. The car is yours until the train. Old Town and Fort Jesus, or Haller Park, or a long lunch on the creek with a phone that will not stop buzzing now that the news is out.
Evening. Miritini for the three o'clock departure, Nairobi Terminus at around twenty past eight, and a ring on her hand the whole way home.
