You do not need a reason. Not a birthday, not an anniversary, not a milestone. Just two people who have not had a real weekend together in a while, and a national park sitting on the edge of the city you already live in.
Three days and two nights, and none of it spent stuck in traffic getting somewhere else. On day two one private tour van is kept for you from before sunrise: a dawn game drive, orphaned elephants at their mud bath, giraffes eating from your hand, a long lunch and a slow drive back through the city.
You sleep in a one bedroom suite at Trademark Suites at Enaki Town, in the leafy suburb of Nyari, with a king bed, a private balcony, a kitchen of your own, two outdoor pools and breakfast every morning. There is no set programme for the evenings. Swim, order in, or take the shuttle to Village Market. Want the room dressed up when you arrive? Add it in the Add Ons tab.
The van is a Toyota Hiace with a roof that lifts and a driver guide who knows the park. Want more space and a smoother ride? Upgrade to a Toyota Land Cruiser Safari Van in the Add Ons tab. Live in Nairobi? Your getaway starts at the hotel door with no transport to book. Coming from upcountry or abroad? Suite for Two: Your suite has a king bed, a lounge, a private balcony and a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee and tea station. There is also a study desk, a laptop size safe, a smart TV and two bottles of mineral water a day.
Two Pools, No Programme: Both outdoor pools are free for guests, and 24 hour room service comes with no tray charge. Nothing here is scheduled for you. Use the time however the weekend calls for.
Nyari, Away from the Noise: The suites sit in a quiet green suburb near Karura Forest, well clear of the city centre. A free shuttle runs to Village Market when you want shops or dinner out.
Breakfast Included: Breakfast is part of your room rate every morning. On day two you leave before the restaurant opens, so we ask the hotel to pack your breakfast for the road.
Nairobi National Park: Your tour van has a roof that lifts, so you can stand up and watch the plains with the city skyline behind them. Lions, giraffe, zebra and rhino live in the park. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the early start gives you the best chance.
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Nursery: Once a day the Trust opens its orphan elephant nursery for a public hour, when the young ones run out for their milk and a mud bath and a keeper tells each orphan's story. Baecation books the visit for you, and the Trust confirms every booking itself and takes none on the day, so please book at least a week before you travel.
Giraffe Centre: The Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata was set up in 1979 to protect the Rothschild's giraffe. You climb a raised platform to eye level and feed them by hand, which tends to turn into the loudest, silliest part of the whole trip.
City Drive Home: On the way back to the hotel your guide takes the long route through Nairobi, past Uhuru Park, the Kenyatta International Conference Centre and Parliament Buildings.

Day 1: Check In and Do Nothing
Morning: Leave Whenever You Like
There is no schedule today. Nairobi couples finish whatever the morning holds and head over when ready. Couples arriving from upcountry or abroad make their way to Nyari at their own pace.
Afternoon: Keys, Kitchen, Balcony
Your suite is yours from check in. Put the kettle on, open the balcony doors and let the first afternoon be as slow as it wants to be.
Evening: However You Want It
Swim in one of the two pools, order in, or take the free shuttle to Village Market for dinner. Want candles and a small setup waiting when you arrive? Add it from the Add Ons tab. Turn in early, because day two starts before sunrise.
Day 2: The Wildlife Day
Morning: The Park at First Light
Your driver guide collects you at 5:15 am with a packed breakfast, so the van is at the park gate when it opens at 6. Stand up through the raised roof as the plains open out with the city skyline behind the grass. Your guide tracks lions, giraffe, zebra and rhino for you, then brings you to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust nursery for the public hour, when the orphaned elephants come out for milk and mud.
Afternoon: Giraffes and a Long, Unhurried Lunch
A short drive from the nursery brings you to the Giraffe Centre, where feeding a Rothschild's giraffe by hand rarely goes as gracefully as either of you expect. From there, lunch is your choice of Carnivore, Galleria Mall or Mamba Village. We reserve the table and the menu is yours, so linger as long as you like.
Evening: The Long Way Home
Your guide takes the scenic route back through Nairobi, past Uhuru Park, the Kenyatta International Conference Centre and Parliament Buildings. Feeling worn out from the early start? Skip the city drive and head straight back for the pool instead. You are in by evening either way, with room service, a swim or the Getaway Dinner for Two from the Add Ons tab waiting.
Day 3: No Alarm, Then Home
Morning: Sleep as Late as You Like
Breakfast runs in the restaurant at your own pace, with no early start to plan around. Want one more stop before you go? Choose the Departure Day Tour in the Add Ons tab, which takes you through Karura Forest and the Nairobi National Museum on the way to JKIA. Otherwise the pool and the balcony are yours until check out.
Afternoon: Back to the Week
Nairobi couples just drive back into their own week. Couples travelling on can add a drop off to JKIA or Nairobi Terminus in the Add Ons tab, and can round off the departure day with ice skating at Panari Hotel.
