The real farmhouse behind Out of Africa, with the Ngong Hills exactly where the book leaves them.
Karen Blixen lived on this farm from 1917 to 1931 and wrote Out of Africa about her years here, later adapted into the Oscar winning film. The house has been a museum since 1985, and your ticket includes a personal guided tour through the rooms, the original furniture and her own belongings still largely as they were.
The gardens are the other half of the visit. Well kept lawns lead out to the same view of the Ngong Hills that closes her book, and most couples end up spending as long outside as they do in the house itself.
A private saloon car collects you from your Nairobi home or hotel, waits through the visit, and brings you back. No group, no shared van, no fixed slot to arrive for, since the museum runs on ordinary opening hours rather than a single visiting window.

The Real Out of Africa Farmhouse: Built in 1912 and Karen Blixen's home from 1917 to 1931, the house is furnished largely as it was during her time here, and a guide walks you through it room by room.
The Ngong Hills View: The garden looks out toward the same hills that close her memoir. It is a quiet, unhurried spot, and worth the extra ten minutes most couples end up spending there.
No Fixed Hour: Open daily, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a guided visit taking roughly an hour, so there is no single slot to plan the rest of your day around.
Your Private Saloon Car: A saloon car with a driver collects you, waits, and returns you to your starting point, at whatever time of day suits you.

Your driver collects you from your Nairobi home or hotel. The museum runs on ordinary opening hours, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm daily, so this fits before or after almost anything else on your day.
The Guided Visit
A museum guide walks you through the farmhouse, room by room, then leaves you to wander the gardens at your own pace. Most visits run about an hour, longer if the Ngong Hills view is doing its job.
Back On Your Way
