This Affordable Honeymoon Amboseli Safari gives newlyweds four unhurried days of elephants, open plains and three chances to see Kilimanjaro together.
After the planning, the guests and the speeches, a honeymoon should be the opposite: quiet, open and yours. Amboseli gives you exactly that, with wide plains, green swamps, some of Africa's most studied elephant families and, when the cloud lifts, Kilimanjaro rising from across the border in Tanzania.
You stay three nights at Sentrim Amboseli, a tented camp on the border of the national park, a few minutes from Kimana Gate. Your tent is set up for newlyweds on the first night, and a private safari van with a pop up roof and your own driver guide stay with you for all four days.
Kilimanjaro is shy. It often hides behind cloud for the whole day and shows itself mainly around dawn and dusk, so no one can promise it. What a honeymoon gives you is time, and time means three dawns in the park. On whichever morning the mountain first comes out clear, your guide stops the van for your first married portrait with Kilimanjaro behind you. If it stays hidden all three mornings, the portrait happens with the elephants instead, which is not a bad second place.

Day 1: Just Married, Heading South
Morning: The Road Out We collect you at 6:30am from your home or hotel in Nairobi. The drive runs down Mombasa Road to Emali, then south through Kimana into the big, dry country around Amboseli.
Afternoon: First Drive as Newlyweds Lunch and check in at Sentrim Amboseli, then out through Kimana Gate for a first gentle drive among the herds.
Evening: The Newlywed Tent Back at camp, your tent has been prepared for the two of you. Dinner at the restaurant and your first night in the bush.
Day 2: The First Dawn
Morning: First Chance at the Mountain Through the gate at first light, when the air is cool and Kilimanjaro is most likely to be clear. If it is, your guide stops for your first married portrait. Back to camp for a late breakfast.
Afternoon: Pool and Plains A long, lazy middle of the day by the pool, then an afternoon drive along the swamps as the elephants gather.
Evening: Dinner for Two A quiet dinner at camp to close your first full day.
Day 3: The Second Dawn
Morning: Second Chance Another early start and, if the mountain hid yesterday, another chance at the portrait. Otherwise, the morning is simply for the plains and whatever they bring.
Afternoon: Your Own Pace Stay at camp for the afternoon or head out for one more drive. Your guide works around what you feel like.
Evening: The Last Night Your final dinner in Amboseli, with the night sounds of the bush all around.
Day 4: The Third Dawn
Morning: One Last Look A final sunrise drive, the last chance for the mountain, then back to camp for breakfast and checkout.
