Our Affordable Honeymoon Tsavo SGR Safari gives newlyweds four unhurried days: a train ride to Voi, three nights inside Tsavo East and a day trip to the springs of Tsavo West.
The wedding is done, the guests have gone home and the only plan left is each other. You travel down in First Class on the Madaraka Express and step off at Voi, where your driver guide and a private safari van are waiting for you. If you are starting from Mombasa, the same van picks you up at your hotel instead.
For three nights you stay at Sentrim Tsavo, a tented camp inside Tsavo East with a waterhole in view of the dining area, a pool beside Kiu Bar and a bonfire after dinner. The extra night buys you what most honeymoons are missing: a slow day with nowhere to rush to. Tsavo East holds four of the Big Five, with elephants and buffalo most days, lions often and leopards on lucky drives, and no rhinos on this side of the park.
The third day crosses the highway into Tsavo West for Mzima Springs, where water filtered through the Chyulu Hills rises into clear pools lined with palms. You walk the trail together, look for hippos from the underwater viewing point and eat lunch in the shade. That night a honeymoon cake is waiting at your table beside the waterhole.

Three nights inside the park: Sentrim Tsavo is located within Tsavo East, roughly 40 minutes through the bush from Voi Gate. With three nights in the same tent, you unpack once and let the park come to you.
A honeymoon tent: Each of the 21 canvas tents and 5 stone walled rooms has a king size bed under a mosquito net, a hot shower, a tea and coffee tray and a large balcony facing the bush. It is simple, private and very quiet after dark.
Dinner with elephants: The dining tables overlook a waterhole where elephants come in to drink, often after nightfall. Your honeymoon cake is served here on the third evening.
Pool afternoons, fireside nights: Kiu Bar sits beside the outdoor pool for the hot hours, and Chui Bar is indoors for the evening. The bonfire is lit after dinner under a wide, dark Tsavo sky.
A gentle way to arrive: Nairobi couples ride the 8:00am Madaraka Express in First Class and reach Voi at 12:02pm. Mombasa couples are collected at their hotel by the private van that stays with you for all four days.
A day at Mzima Springs: Mzima Springs in Tsavo West is fed by water that filters through the volcanic Chyulu Hills and rises into clear, palm lined pools. An underwater viewing point lets you look below the surface for hippos and fish, though the hippos keep their own schedule.

Day 1
Morning, Newlyweds on the Rails: You board the 8:00am Madaraka Express in First Class at Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau and let the city fall away behind you. From Mombasa, your van collects you at your hotel early in the morning.
Afternoon, Arrival in Tsavo East: The train pulls into Voi at 12:02pm, where your driver guide is waiting. You enter the park at Voi Gate and game drive slowly to Sentrim Tsavo for a late lunch.
Evening, First Night Under Canvas: A short drive in the softening light, then back to camp before dark. Dinner beside the waterhole, then the bonfire for as long as you like.
Day 2
Morning, Dawn for Two: An early drive while the plains are cool and the animals are moving, then a long breakfast back at camp.
Afternoon, The Slow Afternoon: Nothing booked. The pool, Kiu Bar, a book on the balcony or a massage if you have added one. This is the afternoon the extra night was made for.
Evening, Sunset on the Plains: A late drive to catch the light going gold across Tsavo East, then dinner by the waterhole.
Day 3
Morning, Across to Tsavo West: An early start with a packed lunch, leaving Tsavo East at Voi Gate and crossing the highway into Tsavo West. The landscape changes from flat red plains to volcanic hills.
Afternoon, Mzima Springs: You walk the trail around the clear pools, look for hippos from the underwater viewing point and eat lunch in the shade of the palms. Then the long, scenic drive back to camp before dark.
Evening, Honeymoon Cake by the Waterhole: Back at Sentrim Tsavo, a honeymoon cake is waiting at your table beside the waterhole. A quiet last night by the fire.
Day 4
Morning, A Final Dawn: One more early drive to say goodbye to the plains, then breakfast and check out by 10:00am.
Afternoon, Back Towards Voi: You game drive out towards Voi with a packed lunch. Mombasa couples continue down the highway in the van and reach the coast by evening.
Evening, Homeward Together: Nairobi couples board the 4:38pm Madaraka Express at Voi in First Class and arrive at Nairobi Terminus at 8:18pm, married life properly begun.
