We base you on the east coast on purpose. Trou d'Eau Douce is about an hour from the airport, the lagoon in front of the hotel is sheltered, and Île aux Cerfs sits right across the water, with a free boat shuttle from the hotel whenever you want a few hours on its beaches. The hotel is for adults only, so the pool and the beach stay quiet.

Hotel base: Four nights at Tropical Attitude, a small adults only hotel rated 3 star plus at Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast, or a comparable hotel confirmed at booking. It has 58 rooms and 11 villas, a swimming pool, a spa and free WiFi, and every room faces the sea.
Your room: A Couple Seafront Room of about 25 square metres with a balcony and a view across the lagoon towards Île aux Cerfs.
Breakfast and dinner daily: Half board is included, so both main meals are settled every day and you only think about lunch. On the east coast, where restaurants are spread out, that saves you taxi fares every evening.
A day for two: Day three has no tour and no pickup. You take a slow morning, then a 75 minute massage side by side in the couples room at the hotel spa, and the evening is yours or the moment you are celebrating.
Daytime flights both ways: Kenya Airways flies direct from JKIA around midday and lands in Mauritius in the early evening, and the return leaves in the early evening and lands in Nairobi at night. No red eye and no 2am pickup.
The south west and the lagoon: A private driver guide takes you to Grand Bassin, the Black River Gorges viewpoint, Chamarel waterfall and the Seven Coloured Earth, then down to the public beach at Le Morne, below the mountain of Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On day four a speedboat takes you to the Grand River South East waterfall, a BBQ lunch on the beach and free time on Île aux Cerfs.

No visa for Kenyans: Kenyan passport holders do not need a visa for a holiday in Mauritius. Immigration asks every visitor for a valid passport, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel booking and enough funds for the stay, and your planner checks you carry all four. Mauritius also requires a valid yellow fever certificate from travellers arriving from Kenya, so your planner checks your certificates before you pay.

Flight times vary by date. This plan follows the Kenya Airways daytime flights, which leave Nairobi around midday and leave Mauritius in the early evening, and your planner confirms the exact times on your written quote before you pay.
Day 1: Nairobi to Mauritius
Morning: Off to JKIA Take a slow morning at home, then plan to reach JKIA about three hours before your midday flight with your passports, yellow fever certificates, printed e tickets, hotel voucher and the completed Mauritius All in One Travel Form.
Afternoon: Over the Indian Ocean Settle in for about four hours and twenty minutes in the air. Mauritius is one hour ahead of Nairobi, so set your watches before you land.
Evening: Landing on the Island Land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in the early evening, clear immigration and meet your driver for the private drive of about an hour to Trou d'Eau Douce. Check in, then sit down to your first dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: The Green South West
Morning: Sacred Lake and Deep Gorges After breakfast, your private driver guide collects you for a full day in the south west. Stop first at Grand Bassin, the crater lake held sacred by Mauritian Hindus, then look out over the forested valleys from the Black River Gorges viewpoint.
Afternoon: Chamarel and Le Morne Continue to Chamarel for lunch in the village, then walk to the viewpoint over Chamarel waterfall and along the paths around the Seven Coloured Earth, where bands of red, purple and ochre soil sit side by side in the open. On the way back, your driver takes you down to the coast at Le Morne. Spend an hour on the public beach, where the lagoon runs pale turquoise beneath the cliffs of Le Morne Brabant, the mountain where escaped slaves once took refuge and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Bring swimwear for a dip. Kitesurfers use parts of this lagoon, so swim where the water is calm and clear of them.
Evening: Back by the Lagoon Your driver takes you back across the island to the east coast in time to freshen up and take your time over dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: A Day for Two
Morning: Nowhere to Be Sleep in, take a late breakfast and spend the morning however you like. Swim in the lagoon, read by the pool or hop on the free boat shuttle to Île aux Cerfs. This is the slowest morning of the trip, on purpose.
Afternoon: Couples Massage Head to the hotel spa for a 75 minute relaxing massage with warm oils, side by side in the couples room, then take the rest of the afternoon slowly.
Evening: Your Evening Dinner is at the hotel, and on set nights the hotel's evening programme includes live music, a sega show, an open air cinema and a boma by the beach. If you added an occasion upgrade, this is usually the evening we build it around.

Day 4: Île aux Cerfs by Speedboat
Morning: To the Waterfall After breakfast, head to the jetty at Trou d'Eau Douce, a few minutes from the hotel, and board your speedboat. Ride up the Grand River South East, the longest river in Mauritius, to the waterfall where it meets the sea.
Afternoon: Lunch on the Sand Your boat takes you to a small island beside Île aux Cerfs for a BBQ lunch on the beach with drinks, then on to Île aux Cerfs for free time in the shallow lagoon.
Evening: Last Dinner by the Water Back at the hotel in the late afternoon, rinse off the salt and enjoy your last dinner on the island.

Day 5: Mauritius to Nairobi
Morning: One Last Swim Have breakfast, then spend the morning on the beach or by the pool. Check out at noon and use the hotel's departure lounge, which has a shower room and a luggage room.
Afternoon: To the Airport Your driver collects you in the early afternoon for the private drive of about an hour to the airport, in good time for your early evening flight.
Evening: Landing at JKIA Touch down in Nairobi at night, with the next trip already on the table.
