Affordable Kigali Couple Getaway from Nairobi | 4 Days 3 Nights
Kigali Serena Hotel
Four slow days in Kigali for two: a direct morning flight, three nights at Kigali Serena Hotel with its pool in the gardens, a coffee masterclass, an afternoon of art and markets and dinner with a view over the city, in one price.
Affordable Kigali Couple Getaway from Nairobi: four days and three nights with direct return economy flights from JKIA and checked baggage on your fare. Kenyan passport holders need no visa for Rwanda, so there is no visa fee and no embassy queue. You stay three nights with breakfast at Kigali Serena Hotel in the centre of the city, with private airport transfers on arrival and departure.
Your days include a specialty coffee masterclass at Question Coffee, an afternoon with a private driver guide at Kimironko Market and Inema Arts Center and a dinner for two at Heaven Restaurant in Kiyovu, looking out over Kigali. You need a yellow fever certificate. Your planner walks you through it. One price per person sharing covers the flights, hotel, transfers and every experience listed below. One Baecation planner stays with you on WhatsApp from booking to landing home.
Some getaways are about doing as much as possible. This one is about doing a few good things together and having time left over for each other. Kigali suits that well. It is an hour and a half from Nairobi, calm, green and clean, with cool evenings and a coffee culture that rewards slow mornings.
We base you at Kigali Serena Hotel on purpose. Its large pool sits in the middle of tropical gardens with the rooms rising around it, so the hours between plans feel like part of the holiday. You are close to the city centre and a short drive from everything on your itinerary.
The plan stays light. One morning learning what makes Rwandan coffee special, one afternoon among the fabric stalls and art studios, one evening dressed up for dinner above the city lights. Everything else is yours: the pool, a long lunch, a nap or one of the extras below if you are marking a birthday, an anniversary or a question you have been waiting to ask.

About Package
More information about this package
Your hotel: Three nights at Kigali Serena Hotel on KN 3 Avenue or a comparable hotel confirmed at booking, in a double room with breakfast every morning.
At the hotel: Kigali Serena has 148 rooms around a large outdoor pool set in tropical gardens, two restaurants, a lounge and Maisha Spa. Check in is from 2pm and check out is at noon. The hotel stores your bags on your last day.
The coffee masterclass: At Question Coffee you spend about two hours with the baristas: picking coffee cherries in the garden, tasting Rwandan coffees side by side and blending your own coffee to take home.
Art and markets: Your driver guide takes you to Kimironko Market, where fabric sellers, tailors, basket weavers and fruit stalls fill the halls, then to Inema Arts Center, where Rwandan artists paint and sculpt in their own studios.
Dinner with a view: On your last night you have dinner for two at Heaven Restaurant, part of Heaven Boutique Hotel in Kiyovu, which looks out over Kigali. Your dinner covers a starter, main course and dessert each with a soft drink.
Direct flights: Kenya Airways and RwandAir both fly nonstop between JKIA and Kigali in about an hour and a half, with checked baggage on your fare. You land in the morning and fly home in the evening, so both travel days still give you time in the city. Kigali is one hour behind Nairobi.
Before you fly: Kenyan passport holders need no visa for Rwanda. Each of you needs a passport valid for at least six months from the day you land with a blank page. You also each need a yellow fever certificate, with the vaccine given at least 10 days before you fly. Carry your return tickets, hotel voucher and a bank card.
Full entry guide: Every entry rule, with the official links, is explained on our Kigali page at baecation.co.ke/kigali.
Rwanda's rules: Plastic bags are banned and are taken away on arrival. On the last Saturday of each month, Umuganda community work closes most services from 7am to 11am. Photographing government buildings, military sites and the police is not allowed.
Staying safe: Kigali is calm and easy to walk by day. Use a hotel taxi or a licensed taxi in the evening rather than moto taxis. Keep valuables out of sight. Drink bottled water, as tap water is not safe to drink.
Travel cover: Rwanda screens arrivals at Kigali airport during the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Visitors who have been in Congo in the 30 days before arrival are refused entry. Travel within Rwanda continues as normal. We recommend travel insurance with medical cover and tell you straight away if official advice changes before you fly.
One planner, start to finish: Your Baecation planner checks your documents with you, sends your e tickets and voucher before you fly, sets up any occasion you add and stays reachable on WhatsApp throughout. If a flight moves or a day needs to change, you message one person instead of four companies.
Package Itinerary
The package itinerary is as follows
Affordable Kigali Couple Getaway Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi
Kenya Airways usually leaves JKIA at 07:30 and lands in Kigali at about 08:00 local time, as Kigali is one hour behind Nairobi. Flights home leave Kigali in the evening, with RwandAir usually at about 17:30 and Kenya Airways at about 20:00 on set days, landing at JKIA the same night. Schedules change from late October and late March, so your planner confirms the exact flights on your written quote before you pay. On the last Saturday of each month, Umuganda community work closes most services and empties the roads from 7am to 11am, so your planner moves transfers and plans around it. Question Coffee, gallery and market hours vary, so your planner confirms them for your dates and swaps days if needed. This getaway is not sold from 7 to 13 April, the first week of Kwibuka, the commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, when the city is quiet and public music and entertainment pause. April is usually the wettest month, with afternoon showers.
