Seven days in Egypt for two: a direct EgyptAir flight, your Egypt visa fee and document pack, two nights by the pyramids, three nights sailing the Nile from Aswan to Luxor on the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily with every temple visit guided and a last night in Luxor with an hour on your own felucca, in one price.

Affordable Egypt Couple Getaway from Nairobi: seven days and six nights with direct return economy flights between JKIA and Cairo on EgyptAir, domestic flights to Aswan and back from Luxor and checked baggage on your fares. Kenyans need a visa from the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi before flying. Your visa fee is included and your planner prepares the document pack with you. You start with two nights and breakfast in a Superior Pyramids View room at Barceló Cairo Pyramids in Giza, then sail three nights from Aswan to Luxor on the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily with all meals on board. Your last night is in a Nile view room at Steigenberger Resort Achti in Luxor. Every transfer is private.

In Cairo you spend a private day with an Egyptologist at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with your tickets included. On the river your guide takes you to Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple. In Luxor you have an hour on a private felucca. Celebrating something? Turn the trip into an anniversary, a birthday, a proposal or a surprise with one of the occasion upgrades below. You need a yellow fever certificate. Your planner walks you through it. One price per person sharing covers the flights, hotel, transfers and every experience listed below. One Baecation planner stays with you on WhatsApp from booking to landing home.

Some trips are about seeing a place. This one is about seeing it slowly, together. You get the pyramids and the treasures of Tutankhamun in Cairo, then you step onto a river ship in Aswan and let the Nile carry you north for three days, past palm groves, mud brick villages and desert cliffs, stopping at temples that have stood for thousands of years.

We chose the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily on purpose. It has 56 cabins of about 22 square metres, a pool on the sun deck, a spa and a lounge bar. It was renovated in 2023. You unpack once, eat every meal on board and wake up somewhere new each morning, with a guide waiting at the gangway.

This is also the getaway to build an occasion on. Anniversaries, birthdays, proposals and surprises all start from the same trip. The upgrades below add the moment each one needs. If one of you is planning in secret, your planner keeps every detail between you and them until the right time.

About Package

More information about this package

Two nights in Giza: Your first two nights are at Barceló Cairo Pyramids or a comparable hotel confirmed at booking, in a Superior Pyramids View room of 32 square metres, with breakfast every morning. The hotel is a 4 star hotel at 229 Al Haram Street, about 4 kilometres from the pyramids, with a heated outdoor pool overlooking them and a panoramic terrace on the twelfth floor.

Three nights on the Nile: You sail from Aswan to Luxor on the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily or a comparable ship confirmed at booking, in a Deluxe cabin of about 22 square metres with your own shower room, air conditioning and a TV. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board. The ship has a pool and loungers on the sun deck, a spa and a lounge bar.

Your temple visits: An Egyptologist guide takes you to the High Dam and Philae Temple in Aswan, the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu along the river, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on Luxor's west bank. On the east bank you visit Karnak and Luxor Temple. Your entrance tickets are included.

One night in Luxor: Your last night is at Steigenberger Resort Achti on Khaled Ibn El Walid Street in Luxor or a comparable hotel confirmed at booking, in a Deluxe Room with a Nile view, with breakfast. The resort has two outdoor pools with pool bars and three restaurants. Luxor Temple is about five minutes by car. Check in is from 3pm and check out is at noon.

A private felucca: On your evening in Luxor you have an hour on the Nile in a felucca of your own, with a return transfer from your hotel and bottled water. If there is no wind that day, you go out in a motor boat instead.

The pyramids and the museum: Your Egyptologist guide and private car collect you after breakfast on your first full day. You walk the Giza Plateau around the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the Sphinx, then drive to the Panorama Point viewpoint. In the afternoon you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum with its colossal statue of Ramses II and the treasures of Tutankhamun. Your plateau and museum tickets are included.

Flights: EgyptAir flies nonstop between JKIA and Cairo in about five hours, with checked baggage on your fare. A morning domestic flight takes you from Cairo to Aswan and an evening flight brings you back from Luxor to Cairo, about an hour and a half each way. The flight home leaves Cairo around midnight and lands at JKIA early the next morning. From late October to late April, Egypt is one hour behind Nairobi.

Early starts and the heat: Temples in Upper Egypt are best seen early, before the heat builds, so some mornings start soon after sunrise. Even in winter the midday sun in Luxor and Aswan is strong, so your guide plans visits around it.

Before you fly: Kenyans need a visa from the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi before travelling. Your visa fee is included and your planner prepares the document pack, but each of you attends the embassy in person. Each of you also needs a passport valid for at least six months from the day you land, with at least one blank page. You also each need a yellow fever certificate, with the vaccine given at least 10 days before you fly. Carry your return tickets, domestic flight tickets, hotel and cruise vouchers and a bank card.

Full entry guide: Every entry rule, with the official links, is explained on our Egypt page at baecation.co.ke/egypt.

Touts and tipping: Men offering camel rides, carriage rides or free gifts approach visitors at the sites. A polite no and staying with your own guide is enough. Tipping is part of daily life in Egypt, so carry small Egyptian pound notes for drivers, guides, porters, the ship's crew and waiters.

Dress: Cover shoulders and knees in Cairo and at the temples. Swimwear is fine on the sun deck and by the pools, with a cover up elsewhere on board.

Staying safe: Use your included transfers and tours, a hotel taxi or Uber in Cairo. Drink bottled water and cover up from the sun. Do not photograph police, military sites or government buildings.

Travel cover: Cairo, Giza, Aswan and Luxor lie outside every area the UK government advises against visiting in Egypt. The wider region has seen strikes and attacks since July, so flights can change at short notice. We book changeable fares where the airline offers them, recommend travel insurance that covers flight disruption and medical costs and tell you straight away if official advice changes before you fly.

Built for occasions: Anniversary, birthday, proposal and surprise upgrades sit on top of this getaway, so you choose the moment and we arrange it. Secret planning is handled in confidence with whichever partner books.

One planner, start to finish: Your Baecation planner prepares your visa document pack, checks your file before you go to the embassy, sends your e tickets and vouchers before you fly, sets up any occasion you add and stays reachable on WhatsApp throughout. If a flight moves or a day needs to change, you message one person instead of six companies.

Package Itinerary

The package itinerary is as follows

Affordable Egypt Couple Getaway Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi

This getaway leaves Nairobi on a Wednesday, because the Royal Lily sails from Aswan to Luxor every Friday. EgyptAir usually leaves JKIA at 05:55 and lands in Cairo mid morning. Your domestic flight to Aswan leaves Cairo early on Friday morning and your flight back from Luxor leaves on Tuesday evening, landing in Cairo hours before your flight home, which usually leaves around midnight and lands at JKIA early on Wednesday morning. Your planner confirms every flight on your written quote before you pay. From late October to late April, Egypt is one hour behind Nairobi. The ship and its guides set the order of the temple visits around the sailing times, so the visits below can swap between days. The Giza Plateau opens at 7am, with last entry at about 4pm. The Grand Egyptian Museum works with timed tickets and opens its galleries from 9am to 6pm. During Ramadan, expected from about 9 February to 10 March 2027, sites open later and close earlier. The plan follows the shorter hours.

Day 1: Nairobi to Cairo

Morning: Documents in One Folder Put your passports with your visa stickers, yellow fever cards, printed return e tickets, domestic flight tickets, hotel and cruise vouchers and a bank card in one folder for your hand luggage. Your flight leaves JKIA early and lands in Cairo after about five hours in the air. Show your yellow fever cards with your passports on arrival, then meet your driver for the drive to Giza.

Afternoon: The First View Leave your bags at the hotel and have a long lunch. Your room is ready from 2pm. Check in, look out at the pyramids from your window and spend the rest of the afternoon by the pool.

Evening: The Terrace Go up to the twelfth floor terrace as the light fades and the pyramids turn into outlines against the sky. Have an easy first dinner at the hotel and an early night after your early flight.

Overnight: Barceló Cairo Pyramids or similar Meals: None included

Morning: The Giza Plateau Your Egyptologist guide and driver collect you after breakfast. Drive to the Panorama Point viewpoint for the photo of all three pyramids in a row, then finish at the Sphinx.

Afternoon: The Grand Egyptian Museum After lunch, drive a short way to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Stand under the colossal statue of Ramses II in the atrium, then walk through the galleries to the treasures of Tutankhamun with your guide.

Afternoon: Back on Board Have lunch on the ship and rest through the warmest hours of the day.
