Two nights at Keekorok Lodge, or similar, inside the reserve. Keekorok sits on 80 acres in the path of the Great Migration, with a resident hippo pool, guest pool and deck, roughly 3.7 km from Keekorok Airstrip, genuinely inside the park rather than on its edge.
Discreet booking and communication. All planning, confirmations and itinerary details are handled with the organising partner; we can keep specifics vague on any shared calendar or confirmation the surprised partner might see.
Migration-season timing (July to October), if your dates allow it. This is genuinely one of the best surprises to build around: the Mara River crossings, with wildebeest and zebra fording the river, are one of the most dramatic wildlife events anywhere, and knowing the reveal has an actual event behind it raises the stakes in a good way.
Two private game drives a day, giving your guide room to adjust the reveal moment or route around whatever your surprise plan needs, whether that is a specific viewpoint or simply not tipping off the destination until arrival.
Honest road transfer timing. Nairobi to Keekorok Lodge is approximately 270 km, roughly 5 to 6 hours by road via Narok town and Sekenani Gate, worth knowing since a surprised partner will likely ask how much longer more than once.
Flight reveal option. Safarilink, AirKenya, Fly540 and Jambo Jet fly Wilson Airport to Mara airstrips in about 45 to 60 minutes, a dramatic alternative if you would rather the reveal happen at a departure gate than in a car on the Narok road.

Day 1: The Reveal
Pickup: 6:00 AM from your Nairobi residence or hotel.
Morning Departure at 6:00 AM. We suggest the reveal happen either at pickup or once the road out of Nairobi makes clear you are not headed to a normal day out, whichever suits your plan. The drive to the Mara is about 270 km and 5 to 6 hours via Narok town and Sekenani Gate.
Afternoon Arrival at Keekorok Lodge in the early afternoon. Settle in, have lunch, and head out for a first game drive as the plains cool into the afternoon.
Evening Dinner at the lodge, with time to let the day sink in properly, likely still a little unbelievable for whoever was surprised.
Day 2: The Full Reveal of the Mara Itself
Morning An early game drive while wildlife activity is at its peak, the best window for predators and, in season, migration herds.
Afternoon Time back at the lodge, pool, deck or rest, before the second drive of the day.
Evening A late-afternoon game drive ending at a private sundowner spot, drinks in hand as the light turns gold over the plains. Dinner at the lodge to close out the day.
Day 3: Last Look, Then Home
Morning A relaxed final game drive before checkout.
