Honeymoons

Barceló Cairo Pyramids, Mövenpick MS Royal Lily and The Makadi Spa Hotel or similar

Eight days in Egypt as newlyweds: a direct EgyptAir flight, your Egypt visa fee and document pack, two nights in a pyramid view suite in Giza, three nights sailing the Nile from Aswan to Luxor with a private felucca and every temple visit guided, then two all inclusive nights in a sea view suite on the Red Sea, in one price.

Affordable Egypt Honeymoon Package from Nairobi: eight days and seven nights with direct return economy flights between JKIA and Cairo on EgyptAir, domestic flights to Aswan and back from Hurghada and checked baggage on your fares. Kenyans need a visa from the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi before flying. Your visa fee is included and your planner prepares the document pack with you. You begin with two nights and breakfast in a Junior Suite Deluxe Pyramids View at Barceló Cairo Pyramids in Giza, sail three nights from Aswan to Luxor on the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily with all meals on board, then drive to the Red Sea for two all inclusive nights in a Junior Suite Sea View at The Makadi Spa Hotel, an adults only resort in Makadi Bay. Every transfer is private.

Your first week as a married couple takes in a private day with an Egyptologist at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with your tickets included, a Nile dinner cruise in Cairo and an hour on your own felucca in Aswan. On the river your guide takes you to Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple. The trip ends with two slow days by the sea. You need a yellow fever certificate. Your planner walks you through it. One price per person sharing covers the flights, hotel, transfers and every experience listed below. One Baecation planner stays with you on WhatsApp from booking to landing home.

Most couples spend months planning the wedding and a week planning the honeymoon. This one is already planned. It covers the whole of Egypt in eight days: the pyramids, the Nile and the Red Sea, with the travel between them arranged so you never wait at a station or haggle for a taxi.

We built it in three parts on purpose. Cairo comes first, while you have the energy for the pyramids and the museum, with a suite that looks towards them. Then three days on the Nile, where you unpack once and the temples come to you. The honeymoon ends by the sea in Makadi Bay, with every meal and drink included and nothing booked.

Each part has one moment kept just for the two of you: a dinner cruise on the Nile in Cairo, an hour on your own felucca among the granite islands of Aswan and a last full day on the Red Sea with no timetable at all.

About Package

More information about this package

Two nights in Giza: Your first two nights are at Barceló Cairo Pyramids or a comparable hotel confirmed at booking, in a Junior Suite Deluxe Pyramids View of 45 square metres, with breakfast every morning. The hotel is a 4 star hotel at 229 Al Haram Street, about 4 kilometres from the pyramids, with a heated outdoor pool overlooking them, three restaurants and a panoramic terrace on the twelfth floor.

Three nights on the Nile: You sail from Aswan to Luxor on the Mövenpick MS Royal Lily or a comparable ship confirmed at booking, in a Deluxe cabin of about 22 square metres with your own shower room, air conditioning and a TV. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board. The ship has 56 cabins, a pool and loungers on the sun deck, a spa and a lounge bar. It was renovated in 2023.

Your temple visits: An Egyptologist guide takes you to the High Dam and Philae Temple in Aswan, the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu along the river, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on Luxor's west bank, then Karnak and Luxor Temple on the east bank. Your entrance tickets are included.

A felucca in Aswan: You have an hour on a private felucca among the granite islands of Aswan, past Elephantine Island and the botanical gardens on Kitchener's Island, with a guide and bottled water. If there is no wind that day, you go out in a motor boat instead.

Two nights by the Red Sea: Your last two nights are at The Makadi Spa Hotel in Makadi Bay or a comparable resort confirmed at booking, in a Junior Suite Sea View of 46 square metres, all inclusive. The resort is for adults only, aged 18 and over, with its own private beach about a minute's walk from the rooms, two outdoor pools, a spa, restaurants and beach bars. Your meals, snacks and drinks there are included, with some limits on what each bar and restaurant serves.

The pyramids and the museum: Your Egyptologist guide and private car collect you after breakfast on your first full day. You walk the Giza Plateau around the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the Sphinx, then drive to the Panorama Point viewpoint. In the afternoon you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum with its colossal statue of Ramses II and the treasures of Tutankhamun. That evening you sail the Nile in Cairo on a two hour dinner cruise with a buffet, a belly dance show and a tanoura show.

Getting around: EgyptAir flies nonstop between JKIA and Cairo in about five hours, with checked baggage on your fare. A morning domestic flight takes you from Cairo to Aswan. From Luxor a private car takes you to Makadi Bay, about four to five hours across the desert to the coast. An afternoon flight brings you back from Hurghada to Cairo for your flight home. From late October to late April, Egypt is one hour behind Nairobi.

Early starts and the heat: Temples in Upper Egypt are best seen early, before the heat builds, so some mornings on the river start soon after sunrise. Even in winter the midday sun in Luxor and Aswan is strong, so your guide plans visits around it.

Before you fly: Kenyans need a visa from the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi before travelling. Your visa fee is included and your planner prepares the document pack, but each of you attends the embassy in person. Each of you also needs a passport valid for at least six months from the day you land, with at least one blank page. You also each need a yellow fever certificate, with the vaccine given at least 10 days before you fly. Carry your return tickets, domestic flight tickets, hotel and cruise vouchers, a copy of your marriage certificate and a bank card.

Full entry guide: Every entry rule, with the official links, is explained on our Egypt page at baecation.co.ke/egypt.

Touts and tipping: Men offering camel rides, carriage rides or free gifts approach visitors at the sites. A polite no and staying with your own guide is enough. Tipping is part of daily life in Egypt, so carry small Egyptian pound notes for drivers, guides, the ship's crew, porters and waiters, even at an all inclusive resort.

Dress and affection: Cover shoulders and knees in Cairo and at the temples. Holding hands is fine. Keep kisses and cuddles for private moments outside the resort. Swimwear is fine on the sun deck, by the pools and on the beach, with a cover up elsewhere.

Staying safe: Use your included transfers and tours, a hotel taxi or Uber in Cairo. Drink bottled water and cover up from the sun. Do not photograph police, military sites or government buildings. On the reef, wear reef shoes and follow any instructions on currents.

Travel cover: Cairo, Giza, Aswan, Luxor and the Red Sea coast around Hurghada lie outside every area the UK government advises against visiting in Egypt. The wider region has seen strikes and attacks since July, so flights can change at short notice. We book changeable fares where the airline offers them, recommend travel insurance that covers flight disruption and medical costs and tell you straight away if official advice changes before you fly.

One planner, start to finish: Your Baecation planner prepares your visa document pack, checks your file before you go to the embassy, sends your e tickets and vouchers before you fly, lets the hotels and the ship know you are on honeymoon and stays reachable on WhatsApp throughout. Any honeymoon touches the hotels or the ship choose to offer are their gift and are not guaranteed.

Package Itinerary

The package itinerary is as follows

Affordable Egypt Honeymoon Package Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi

This honeymoon leaves Nairobi on a Wednesday, because the Royal Lily sails from Aswan to Luxor every Friday. EgyptAir usually leaves JKIA at 05:55 and lands in Cairo mid morning. Your domestic flight to Aswan leaves Cairo early on Friday morning. On the last day an afternoon flight from Hurghada lands in Cairo hours before your flight home, which usually leaves around midnight and lands at JKIA early on Thursday morning. Your planner confirms every flight on your written quote before you pay. From late October to late April, Egypt is one hour behind Nairobi. The ship and its guides set the order of the temple visits around the sailing times, so the visits below can swap between days. Your felucca is timed around them. The Giza Plateau opens at 7am, with last entry at about 4pm. The Grand Egyptian Museum works with timed tickets and opens its galleries from 9am to 6pm. During Ramadan, expected from about 9 February to 10 March 2027, sites open later and close earlier. The plan follows the shorter hours.

Day 1: Nairobi to Cairo

Morning: Documents in One Folder Put your passports with your visa stickers, yellow fever cards, a copy of your marriage certificate, printed return e tickets, domestic flight tickets, hotel and cruise vouchers and a bank card in one folder for your hand luggage. Your flight leaves JKIA early and lands in Cairo after about five hours in the air. Show your yellow fever cards with your passports on arrival, then meet your driver for the drive to Giza.

Afternoon: Your First View as Newlyweds Leave your bags at the hotel and have a long lunch. Your suite is ready from 2pm. Check in, look out at the pyramids from your window and spend the rest of the afternoon by the pool.

Evening: The Terrace Go up to the twelfth floor terrace as the light fades and the pyramids turn into outlines against the sky. Have an easy first dinner and an early night after your early flight.

Overnight: Barceló Cairo Pyramids or similar Meals: None included

Day 2: The Pyramids, the Museum and the Nile

Morning: The Giza Plateau Your Egyptologist guide and driver collect you after breakfast. Drive to the Panorama Point viewpoint for the photo of all three pyramids in a row, then finish at the Sphinx.

Afternoon: The Grand Egyptian Museum After lunch, drive a short way to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Stand under the colossal statue of Ramses II in the atrium, then walk through the galleries to the treasures of Tutankhamun with your guide. Head back to the hotel to rest.
