Keekorok Lodge

Just-married and chasing the horizon: a private 3-day Masai Mara honeymoon under wide open skies.

There is a reason the Masai Mara sits at the top of every honeymoon list in Kenya. It is the single most famous savanna on the continent, the stage for the Great Migration, and a landscape that makes two people feel pleasantly small next to something enormous.

This affordable honeymoon package takes you there without cutting corners on privacy: a private 4x4 and your own driver-guide from the moment you leave Nairobi, two nights at Keekorok Lodge or similar deep inside the reserve, and quiet evenings built around just the two of you.

You will wake up to lion calls carrying across the plains, drive out into herds of wildebeest and zebra stretching to the horizon, and end each day with a sundowner in hand as the light turns the grass gold.

It is the kind of honeymoon that does not need a five-star price tag to feel like the beginning of something big, because the Mara itself does the heavy lifting.

About Package

More information about this package

Private Vehicle & Driver-Guide: Unlike our group-joining safaris, this honeymoon package is built around a dedicated 4x4 and guide for just the two of you, so your game drive pace, stops and photo breaks are yours to set.

In-Reserve Accommodation: Two nights at Keekorok Lodge, or similar, on an 80-acre site directly in the path of the Great Migration, with a spring-fed hippo pool on the grounds, a pool and a game-viewing deck, roughly 3.7 km from Keekorok Airstrip.

Genuinely Inside the Reserve: Because Keekorok sits inside the Masai Mara National Reserve rather than on its edge, your first and last game drives happen right outside the lodge gate, not an hour's drive away.

Two Private Game Drives Daily: Morning and evening drives are timed around when wildlife is most active, led by a driver-guide briefed on your interests, whether that is predators, birdlife or the migration herds.

Migration Season Positioning: If you are travelling between July and October, the Mara River crossings, with wildebeest and zebra fording the river past crocodiles and steep banks, are one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth and a genuine highlight for couples visiting at this time of year.

Honest Road Transfer: The drive from Nairobi to Keekorok is approximately 270 km and takes 5 to 6 hours by road, tarmac as far as Narok town and then murram track into the reserve through Sekenani Gate, so Day 1 is built around that reality rather than an optimistic estimate.

A Genuine Flight Alternative: Safarilink, AirKenya, Fly540 and Jambo Jet all operate scheduled flights from Wilson Airport to Mara airstrips in around 45 to 60 minutes, landing a short drive from Keekorok Lodge. It costs more than the road transfer but is worth considering if you would rather spend those hours in the Mara than on the road.

Private Sundowners: Each evening includes time set aside at a scenic spot for the two of you to watch the sun go down over the plains, a genuinely private moment even though the base package uses your own vehicle rather than a shared one.

Package Itinerary

The package itinerary is as follows

Affordable Honeymoon Masai Mara Itinerary, 3 Days 2 Nights.

Day 1: Into the Mara
Pickup: 6:00 AM from your Nairobi residence or hotel.
Morning: Your driver-guide collects you at 6:00 AM for the road transfer to the Masai Mara, roughly 270 km and 5 to 6 hours via Narok town and Sekenani Gate. We build in a stop in Narok for a stretch, a bathroom break and last-minute supplies before the road turns to murram inside the reserve.
Afternoon: Arrival at Keekorok Lodge in the early afternoon, with time to settle into your room, have lunch, and rest before the Mara heat softens. Mid-afternoon, head out on your first private game drive as the plains around Keekorok wake up for the evening.
Evening: Return to the lodge for a relaxed dinner as newlyweds, with the sounds of the bush carrying in from the dark beyond the lodge grounds. Ask your guide about the resident hippo pool, worth a slow walk past before you turn in.

Day 2: A Full Day on the Plains
Morning: An early game drive while the light is soft and predators are most active, timed entirely around your pace since the vehicle is yours alone. This is the best window for spotting lion, cheetah or, in season, the leading edge of the migration herds.
Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch and time to yourselves, whether that means the pool, the deck overlooking the grounds, or simply resting before the second half of the day.
Evening: A second private game drive into the late afternoon, ending at a scenic spot for a private sundowner as the sun drops over the Mara. Dinner back at the lodge closes out your one full day in the reserve.

Day 3: One Last Drive, Then Home
Morning: A final unhurried game drive before checkout, catching whatever the Mara has to offer on your last morning together in the reserve.
Afternoon: Breakfast, checkout, and the road transfer back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening depending on traffic through Narok and into the city.
