Affordable Overnight Getaway Sagana | 2 Days 1 Night

Couple Packages
Honeymoons

Rapids Camp Sagana or similar

1 night on the river, every meal covered, and you are home by Sunday afternoon.

Some weekends do not have 3 days in them. There is a wedding on Sunday, or someone is on call, or you simply did not decide until Thursday. That is what this one is for.

Sagana is 100 km north of Nairobi, roughly 2 hours on tarmac. Leave on Saturday morning and you are at the river by lunchtime. Leave the following afternoon and you are back in Nairobi before dark. No flights, no leave days, no long transfer at either end.

What you get in between is a full day and a half that does not feel rushed, because the camp handles everything. Lunch waiting when you arrive. A guided walk upstream to the waterfall in the afternoon. The plunge from the rocks into a deep pool of the river. Dinner as the light goes and a fire afterwards. Kayaks on the calm stretch the next morning and the zip line out across the water before lunch.

Every meal is included from the first to the last, with coffee running throughout. You are not deciding where to eat or settling separate bills with the kitchen.

If you want the full rapids, the bungee or archery, they sit alongside the package rather than inside it. Take them or leave them. This is the short version of a Sagana weekend and it is deliberately unpadded.

About Package

More information about this package

One night, which is the point: This is the shortest Sagana package we run and it exists for weekends that are already half spoken for. Everything is compressed into a day and a half without being hurried.

A private room, not a tent line: Rapids Camp keeps its rooms separate from the camping ground, with electricity and a private bathroom. You are on the same site as the river without sleeping in canvas or sharing a washblock.

Full board across both days: Lunch and dinner on arrival day, breakfast and lunch the next, all buffet style from the camp kitchen with Kenyan and Indian dishes and vegetarian options on request. Complimentary coffee throughout.

4 activities inside the price: The waterfall challenge, the plunge, kayaking on the calm stretch and zip lining across the river. All guided, all with full safety kit, none charged at the desk.

2 hours from Nairobi on tarmac: The Nairobi Nyeri road gets you there in roughly 2 hours in normal traffic. That is the entire reason a single night away is worth doing here and is not worth doing at the coast.

Package Itinerary

The package itinerary is as follows

2 Days Affordable Overnight Getaway Sagana Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi

Day 1: Nairobi to Sagana:

Leave Nairobi mid morning for the drive north along the Nairobi Nyeri road, roughly 2 hours in normal traffic through Thika and the pineapple country beyond it.

Check in at Rapids Camp opens from midday. Settle into the room and take lunch overlooking the river.

The afternoon starts with the waterfall challenge, a guided walk upstream to where the water comes down hard. It runs about an hour and is a walk rather than a climb.

Afterwards, the plunge sends you off the rocks into a deep pool of the river, twice if you want it.

Dinner is served at camp as the light drops, with a fire afterwards and a clear sky on most dry season nights.

Overnight: Rapids Camp Sagana, room on full board

Day 2: Sagana to Nairobi:

Breakfast on the deck. The river is at its best early, with birds working the far bank and the camp still quiet.

The kayaks go out on the calm stretch first. Flat water rather than rapids, so neither of you needs experience and you can drift as much as you paddle.

Then the zip line, out across the water and back, in full harness and helmet.

Lunch at camp (paid extra), then check out. The drive back puts you in Nairobi by late afternoon.
