This Affordable Proposal Amboseli Safari gives you the setting, the timing and a quiet plan, while your partner thinks it is simply a safari weekend.
You already know the question. What you need is the right place to ask it, and someone to handle everything around it without giving the game away. As far as your partner knows, this is a three day safari to Amboseli: elephants, open plains and, on clear evenings, Kilimanjaro rising across the border in Tanzania.
The two of you stay at Sentrim Amboseli, a tented camp on the border of the national park, a short drive from Kimana Gate. Your own driver guide and a private safari van with a pop up roof take you there from Nairobi and stay with you throughout. Your guide is in on the plan. Your partner is not.
On the second evening, as the light fades, your guide suggests a last look at the mountain from the camp's viewpoint. Lanterns are waiting. The rest is up to you. Kilimanjaro often hides in cloud, so the moment does not depend on it; if the evening turns wet, the same spot is ready again at sunrise. Afterwards, the trip belongs to both of you, starting with an engagement dinner set just for two.

The Camp: Sentrim Amboseli is a camp of 60 tents on land bordering the national park, about 3 km from Kimana Gate. Its grounds include a viewpoint facing Kilimanjaro, which is where your moment is set.
Your Tent: A canvas tent with an en suite bathroom, hot showers, a private veranda and a tea and coffee tray. Comfortable, private and far from anyone you know.
All Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the camp restaurant, so the only thing on your mind is the question.
Downtime by the Pool: The outdoor pool fills the hot middle of the day and gives you somewhere easy to be while your nerves settle.
Rooted in Maasai Land: The camp's décor and craft pieces draw on the Maasai community whose land surrounds the park.
Private Vehicle, Trusted Guide: A private Toyota Hiace with a pop up roof and your own driver guide for all three days. Your guide knows the plan and keeps the timing right.
The Proposal Setup: Lanterns at the viewpoint at dusk on the second evening, with a sunrise backup if the weather turns, followed by an engagement dinner table.
Park Fees Included: Three daily park tickets for both of you are paid in advance, so nothing distracts from the day.

Day 1: The Safari Your Partner Expects
Morning: Leaving Nairobi We collect you both at 6:30am from your home or hotel in Nairobi. The route runs down Mombasa Road to Emali and south through Kimana. Keep the ring in your hand luggage, and keep an eye out for Kilimanjaro ahead.
Afternoon: First Drive Lunch and check in at Sentrim Amboseli, then your first drive through Kimana Gate. Elephant herds move back towards the swamps as the afternoon cools. Your guide takes note of how the light falls on the camp viewpoint, ready for tomorrow.
Evening: A Normal Night, on Purpose Dinner at camp, nothing unusual. Tomorrow is the day.
Day 2: The Question
Morning: Dawn in the Park Out through the gate at first light, when Kilimanjaro is most likely to be clear and the herds are on the move. Back to camp for a late breakfast.
Afternoon: Holding Your Nerve Lunch, the pool and a slow afternoon drive to fill the hours. Your guide keeps the plan moving so you only have one thing to think about.
Evening: At the Viewpoint As the light fades, your guide suggests one last look at the mountain from the camp's viewpoint. Lanterns are waiting. You ask. From here the trip belongs to both of you, beginning with an engagement dinner at a table set for two.
Day 3: Engaged
Morning: Your First Sunrise Together A final early drive for both of you as an engaged couple, then back to camp for breakfast and checkout. If the weather moved the proposal, this is when it happens instead.
Afternoon: Heading Home The road back north through Kimana and Emali, with a stop for lunch along the way at your own cost. Plenty of time for phone calls to family.
Evening: Back in Nairobi We drop you both at home or at your hotel in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic.
