A guided waterfall walk built in as the reveal moment. Chania and Karuru waterfalls are both real, accessible attractions near Nyeri; a Guided Waterfall Walk add-on gets you there with someone who knows the paths, and it's a natural place to explain the surprise.
One night at Aberdare Country Club, or similar. Colonial-era grounds in Mweiga with a golf course and gardens, a relaxed base for the first evening once the reveal has landed.
One night at The Ark, or similar. The original Aberdare tree hotel, reached only by a mandatory lodge transfer from Aberdare Country Club with a fixed early-afternoon departure; no self-driving permitted.
Floodlit waterhole viewing included. The Ark's decks and many rooms look directly onto its own lit waterhole through the night, with a buzzer system if larger game come down to drink.
Private return transfer via Bamm Tours, kept low-key on the way up. Road only, about 150 km from Nairobi via Karatina on the A2, roughly two and a half to three hours each way, easy to frame as an ordinary drive until the waterfall stop.
Golf and garden access at Aberdare Country Club. Greens fees are on request, useful if the surprised partner turns out to be a golfer and you want to extend the good mood into the afternoon.
Package Itinerary
The package itinerary is as follows

Day 1 — Pickup: 8:00 AM from your Nairobi address or hotel.
Morning: Departure north on the A2, framed however you like it: a scenic drive, a day trip, whatever keeps the surprise intact through Karatina and into tea country.
Afternoon: A stop at a Nyeri-area waterfall (Chania or Karuru, subject to access on the day) with a guided walk, and the moment you finally tell them what's actually happening. From there, on to Aberdare Country Club for check in and a relaxed rest of the afternoon.
Evening: Dinner at the Country Club, an early night ahead of tomorrow's transfer up to The Ark.
Day 2
Morning: Breakfast, then the transfer up to The Ark in the lodge's own vehicle.
Afternoon: Settle in and spend the afternoon on the viewing decks, watching the clearing below.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge, then the floodlit waterhole after dark, watched from the viewing deck with the buzzer system on standby.
Day 3
Morning: A final look at the waterhole in daylight, breakfast at the lodge, and the transfer back down to Aberdare Country Club.
Afternoon: Departure back to Nairobi, arriving mid to late afternoon.
