Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel and Beyond Karon

Two nights by the river in Bangkok and three by the sea in Phuket, with a dinner cruise past the lit temples, a speedboat day to the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay, your direct flights from Nairobi and your Thai e Visa in one price.

Affordable Thailand Honeymoon Package from Nairobi: six days and five nights across two very different sides of Thailand, with direct return economy flights on Kenya Airways between JKIA and Bangkok, return flights between Bangkok and Phuket on Thai Airways, checked baggage and your Thai e Visa fee all taken care of. You begin with two nights with breakfast in a river view room at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel, then fly south for three nights with breakfast in a sea view room at Beyond Karon, an adults only resort on Karon Beach. Your days take in a guided morning at the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun, a Saffron dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya, the sunset at Promthep Cape and a speedboat day to the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay.

Boats only sail in safe weather, so we hold a second day for the islands, and if both are cancelled we refund the island day. Kenyan passport holders need a Thai e Visa, a yellow fever certificate and the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card, and your planner walks you through all three. One price per person sharing covers the flights, hotels, transfers and every experience listed below, and one Baecation planner stays with you on WhatsApp from booking to landing home.

A honeymoon should feel like two trips in one: a city to explore together and somewhere quiet to slow down. This one gives you both. Bangkok brings the golden temples, the river and an evening on the water as the city lights up. Phuket brings warm turquoise sea, limestone islands and a room where the first thing you see each morning is the Andaman Sea.

The order is deliberate. You land in Bangkok on a direct flight and spend two days there while your energy is high, then take a short flight of about an hour and a half to Phuket, where the pace drops. On your last afternoon you fly back to Bangkok and connect to the same direct flight home, so you never need a stop in the Gulf.

We built the island day around the weather rather than hoping for it. Your speedboat day to Phi Phi is booked for your first full day in Phuket, and the day after is held as a second chance. In the dry season most couples sail on the first day and spend the second on the beach. If the boats are stopped on both days, the island part of your price comes back to you.

About Package

More information about this package

Two hotels, two moods: Two nights at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel, then three nights at Beyond Karon in Phuket or comparable hotels confirmed at booking. Both stays include breakfast.

Your Bangkok hotel: Avani+ Riverside sits on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, and every room and suite looks over the water. You stay in a River View Room of about 30 square metres, with an infinity pool on the roof and a free shuttle boat to Saphan Taksin from 8am to 11:15pm.

Your Phuket hotel: Beyond Karon is an adults only resort for guests over 18 in a quiet corner of Karon Beach on Phuket's west coast. You stay in a Deluxe Sea View Room of about 34 square metres with a balcony over the Andaman Sea. The resort has two outdoor pools, a sunset bar and a spa with treatment rooms for couples.

Direct flights home: Kenya Airways flies nonstop between JKIA and Bangkok in about nine and a half hours. This honeymoon follows the Friday night departure and the flight home that leaves Bangkok at 1am on Friday morning, with Thai Airways flights of about an hour and a half between Bangkok and Phuket.

The temples: A guided morning takes you through the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, home of the Emerald Buddha, then Wat Pho and its reclining Buddha, about 46 metres long, before the short ferry across to Wat Arun. Your entrance tickets for all three are included.

Dinner on the river: On your second evening you board the Saffron dinner cruise from ICONSIAM, a four course Thai dinner served in the air conditioned dining room, with an open upper deck and a rooftop bar for the views of the lit temples and towers.

Phi Phi and Maya Bay: A speedboat day takes you to the Phi Phi Islands, with snorkelling stops, lunch and Maya Bay, the bay made famous by the film The Beach. Swimming is not allowed at Maya Bay, only wading. The national park fee is included.

Two chances to sail: Boat trips go ahead only when the captains and the national park allow them. We book your island day for your first full day in Phuket and hold the next day as a second chance. If both days are cancelled for weather, we refund USD 110 per person, the island part of your price.

Your Thai e Visa: Kenyan passport holders need a visa for Thailand. You apply online at the official Thai e Visa website, and the KES 5,000 single entry tourist visa fee is included in your price. The embassy in Nairobi asks each of you for proof of employment or business ownership, a bank statement stamped by your bank showing at least 20,000 baht each over the past three months, your return flight booking and your hotel bookings. It takes at least 15 working days, so apply at least one month before you fly but not more than three months before. Approval rests with the Thai authorities alone.

Yellow fever and arrival card: Thailand requires a yellow fever certificate from travellers arriving from Kenya, checked at the health counter before immigration. Every visitor also completes the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within the three days before landing. Your planner checks both with you before you fly.

Dress for the temples: Shoulders and knees must be covered at the Grand Palace and the temples, with no sleeveless tops, shorts or short skirts, and shoes come off inside the halls.

Travel cover: Bangkok and Phuket are busy, open and welcoming to visitors. Late in the rainy season low lying streets in Bangkok can flood after heavy rain, and on Phuket's beaches a red flag means no swimming. We watch the official advice and tell you straight away if it changes before you fly. We strongly recommend travel insurance with medical cover.

Honeymoon touches: Tell us it is your honeymoon and we let both hotels know. Any welcome gesture is at each hotel's discretion and is not guaranteed.

One planner, start to finish: Your Baecation planner prepares your e Visa documents with you, sends your e tickets and vouchers before you fly and stays reachable on WhatsApp throughout. If a boat is cancelled or a flight moves, you message one person instead of five companies.

Package Itinerary

The package itinerary is as follows

Affordable Thailand Honeymoon Package Itinerary with Baecation Adventures from Nairobi

Kenya Airways flies direct from JKIA on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 23:59 and lands in Bangkok at 13:30 the next afternoon. The flight home leaves Bangkok at 01:00 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings and lands at JKIA at 06:05. This plan follows the Friday departure, with Thai Airways flights to Phuket on Monday at 11:30 and back to Bangkok on Thursday at 17:10. On other dates we change the order or the length of the stay, and the schedules can change from late March, so your planner confirms the exact flights on your written quote before you pay. The Grand Palace opens daily from 8:30am to 3:30pm but can close at short notice for royal ceremonies, the Saffron cruise sails from Friday to Sunday and Maya Bay closes every year from 1 August to 30 September, so your planner sets the days around them.

Day 1: Nairobi to Bangkok

Morning: Over the Indian Ocean Your direct flight left JKIA just before midnight, so wake to breakfast on board, your first morning abroad as a married couple. Keep your passports, printed e Visas, yellow fever cards, Thailand Digital Arrival Card confirmations, e tickets and hotel vouchers in your hand luggage.

Afternoon: Into the City Land at Suvarnabhumi Airport in the early afternoon. Show your yellow fever cards at the health counter, clear immigration and meet your driver for the drive of about 50 minutes to the riverside. Check in and head up to the rooftop pool.

Evening: Above the River Watch the river traffic from the roof as the lights come on, then have dinner at Riverside Plaza next door or on the rooftop at SEEN.

Overnight: Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel or similar Meals: None included

Day 2: Temples and the River

Morning: The Grand Palace and Wat Pho After breakfast, take the shuttle boat to Sathorn Pier and the river boat up to Tha Chang, where your guide meets you. Walk through the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew to see the Emerald Buddha, then on to Wat Pho and its reclining Buddha covered in gold leaf.

Afternoon: Wat Arun Cross the river by ferry to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, then head back to the hotel for a swim and a rest before the evening.

Evening: The Saffron Dinner Cruise Your car takes you to ICONSIAM for the Saffron dinner cruise. Dinner is served below deck, then take your drinks up to the open deck as the boat passes the lit Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The car brings you back afterwards.

Overnight: Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel or similar Meals: Breakfast and dinner

Day 3: Bangkok to Phuket

Morning: South to the Sea After breakfast, your driver takes you to Suvarnabhumi Airport for the late morning Thai Airways flight to Phuket, about an hour and a half in the air.

Afternoon: Karon Beach Your driver meets you in Phuket for the drive of about an hour to Karon. Check in to your sea view room, then walk straight onto the sand.

Evening: Sunset at Promthep Cape Take a taxi about 20 minutes south to Promthep Cape, Phuket's best known sunset viewpoint, then have dinner by the water in Rawai or Kata.

Overnight: Beyond Karon or similar Meals: Breakfast

Day 4: The Phi Phi Islands

Morning: Out to Sea Your pickup comes after breakfast for the pier, and the speedboat heads out across the Andaman Sea to the Phi Phi Islands, with limestone cliffs rising straight out of turquoise water.

Afternoon: Maya Bay Snorkel over the reefs, have lunch on the islands and wade into the shallows at Maya Bay, where swimming is not allowed but the view is the one you have seen in photos. If the boats are stopped today, your second chance is tomorrow.

Evening: Back on Karon You are back at the hotel in the late afternoon. Rinse off the salt and take a slow dinner at the resort or along Karon Beach.

Overnight: Beyond Karon or similar Meals: Breakfast and lunch

Day 5: Nothing Booked

Morning: Sleep In If you sailed yesterday, this day is yours with no pickup and no plan. Take a late breakfast on the balcony and spend the morning on the beach or by the pools. If yesterday's boats were stopped, this is your second island day.

Afternoon: The Big Buddha or the Spa Take a taxi up to the Big Buddha for views over the south of the island or book a treatment for two at the resort spa.

Evening: Your Last Night by the Sea Have a last dinner together at the resort's sunset bar or on the beach at Kata.

Overnight: Beyond Karon or similar Meals: Breakfast

Day 6: Phuket to Nairobi

Morning: One Last Swim Take your time over breakfast and one last swim in the Andaman Sea. Check out at noon and leave your bags with the hotel.

Afternoon: Back to Bangkok Your driver collects you in the early afternoon for Phuket Airport and the late afternoon Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. Collect your bags in Bangkok and check in for your flight home.

Evening: Flying Home Have dinner at the airport before your 1am direct flight to Nairobi. You touch down at JKIA just after six on Friday morning, married a little longer.
