This Affordable Vacation Amboseli Safari turns your leave into three proper safari days, with a full day in the park and a picnic lunch at its heart.
A vacation should feel like one from the moment you leave the city. Amboseli does that quickly: a morning's drive from Nairobi, the land opens up into dry plains, green swamps and elephant herds, and on clear mornings and evenings Kilimanjaro stands behind it all from across the border in Tanzania. The mountain often hides in cloud, so we plan the early and late drives to give you the best chance of seeing it.
You stay two nights at Sentrim Amboseli, a tented camp on the border of the national park, a few minutes from Kimana Gate. A welcome fruit platter and card are waiting when you arrive. Your own driver guide and a private safari van with a pop up roof are with you for the whole trip.
The centre of the trip is the long day. On day two you leave at first light with a packed lunch and spend the whole day in the park, crossing from the busier eastern side near the gate to the quieter western plains beyond the old lakebed, and back. Lunch is at a designated picnic site, out of the van, with the plains around you. It is the day most visitors never get, because they return to camp at midday.

Camp Location: Sentrim Amboseli has 60 tents on land that borders the national park, around 3 km from Kimana Gate. It is a short hop to the park at dawn and an easy return at dusk.
Tent Comforts: Every tent has an en suite bathroom with hot showers, a private veranda and a tea and coffee tray, with the open country just beyond the canvas.
Meals on Us: Full board covers breakfast, lunch and dinner at the camp restaurant, plus a packed lunch for your full day in the park.
Pool Afternoon: On arrival day and departure morning, the outdoor pool is there when you want a break from the heat.
Maasai Craft: Maasai design and craft pieces run through the camp's shared spaces, a link to the community land that surrounds the park.
A Private Van: A Toyota Hiace with a pop up roof and your own driver guide for all three days, so the full day in the park runs at your pace.
Welcome on Arrival: A fruit platter and a welcome card in your tent when you check in.
Park Fees Included: Three daily park tickets for both of you are covered.

Day 1: Holiday Mode On
Morning: South from Nairobi We collect you at 6:30am from your home or hotel in Nairobi. The route follows Mombasa Road to Emali, then south through Kimana, with the city falling away behind you.
Afternoon: Welcome to Amboseli A fruit platter and welcome card are waiting in your tent. After lunch at Sentrim Amboseli, you head through Kimana Gate for a first drive as the herds start moving again in the cooler hours.
Evening: First Night at Camp Dinner at the camp restaurant and a good night's sleep before the big day.
Day 2: The Long Day
Morning: Out at First Light You leave at dawn with a packed lunch. The early hours give you the best chance of Kilimanjaro and the liveliest wildlife on the eastern plains and swamps.
Afternoon: Picnic on the Plains Your guide takes you west, beyond the old lakebed, to the quieter side of the park that shorter drives rarely reach. Lunch is at a designated picnic site, out of the van, with open plains all around. The afternoon brings you back east as the elephants return to the water.
Evening: Back at Camp You return to camp tired, dusty and happy. Dinner, then an early night.
Day 3: The Last Morning
Morning: Final Drive One last early drive for the morning light, then back to camp for breakfast and checkout.
Afternoon: Homeward The drive north through Kimana and Emali, with a lunch stop along the way at your own cost.
Evening: Back in Nairobi We drop you at your home or hotel in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic.
