Our Affordable Vacation Tsavo SGR Safari packs a real holiday into three days: a train ride to Voi, two nights in Tsavo East and an afternoon at your guide's favourite place.
This is a holiday first and a safari second, which means good food, a pool, early drives and plenty of time to do nothing. Nairobi couples travel down in First Class on the Madaraka Express and are met at Voi by a driver guide with a private safari van. Mombasa couples are collected at their hotel by that same van and drive up the highway.
Your base is Sentrim Tsavo, a tented camp inside Tsavo East with a waterhole visible from the dining area, a pool beside Kiu Bar and a bonfire after dinner. When you arrive, a fruit platter and a handwritten welcome card are waiting in your tent. On the drives, expect elephants and buffalo most days, lions quite often and leopards only with luck. Tsavo East has four of the Big Five, with no rhinos on this side of the park.
On the second afternoon, your guide takes you somewhere that is not on any list: the one corner of Tsavo East they would choose if the park were theirs. You hear why it matters to them, and you stay for the sunset there before heading back to camp.

Already inside Tsavo East: Sentrim Tsavo is set within the park, about 40 minutes of bush road beyond Voi Gate. Morning drives leave straight from camp, so you are watching wildlife while other visitors are still at the gate.
Tents with a deck: Pick from 21 canvas tents and 5 stone walled rooms, each fitted with a king size bed and mosquito net. A large balcony looks onto the bush, and there is a hot shower and a tea and coffee tray inside.
Dining with a view: Tables in the dining area face a waterhole that elephants come to, often once the light has gone. It turns every dinner into a slow game drive of its own.
Pool, bars and bonfire: The outdoor pool has Kiu Bar right beside it for long afternoons, and Chui Bar is the indoor bar for cooler evenings. A bonfire is lit after dinner under a big Tsavo sky.
Train or doorstep pickup: Nairobi couples ride the 8:00am train in First Class and arrive in Voi at 12:02pm. Mombasa couples are collected at their hotel by the private van that stays with them for all three days.
Your guide's favourite place: On the second afternoon your guide takes you to the part of Tsavo East they love most and tells you its story. It changes from guide to guide, which is exactly the point.

Day 1
Morning, Holiday Mode On: Nairobi couples board the 8:00am Madaraka Express in First Class at Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau and watch the scenery slowly turn from green to red. Mombasa couples are collected at their hotel early in the morning by the van that stays with them for the trip.
Afternoon, Welcome to Tsavo: You reach Voi at 12:02pm and find your driver guide waiting on the platform. After Voi Gate you game drive through Tsavo East to Sentrim Tsavo, where a fruit platter and welcome card are waiting in your tent.
Evening, Settling In: A short drive as the day cools, then back to camp before dark. Dinner is served within view of the waterhole, with the bonfire lit afterwards.
Day 2
Morning, Morning on the Plains: An early game drive across the open plains while the animals are most active, then back to camp for a proper breakfast.
Afternoon, Your Guide's Favourite Place: After lunch and some time at the pool, your guide drives you to the corner of Tsavo East they love most. You hear its story and stay to watch the sun go down.
Evening, Dinner Under the Stars: Back at camp for dinner beside the waterhole, then a nightcap at Chui Bar or the bonfire.
Day 3
Morning, One More Look: A last early drive while the park wakes up, then breakfast and check out by 10:00am.
Afternoon, Back Towards Voi: You game drive out towards Voi with a packed lunch. Mombasa couples continue down the highway in the van and reach the coast by evening.
Evening, The Ride Home: Nairobi couples take the 4:38pm Madaraka Express from Voi in First Class and reach Nairobi Terminus at 8:18pm, already planning the next holiday.
