We base you in Nungwi on purpose. It sits at the far north of the island, with the beach, the restaurants and the dhow builders all within walking distance, and the beach faces west, so every evening ends with the sun going down over the sea. Kenyan citizens need no visa for Tanzania, and the flight from Nairobi is under two hours.

Beach base: Four nights at Amaan Beach Bungalows, a 3 star hotel on the beach at Nungwi, or a comparable beach hotel confirmed at booking. The hotel has an outdoor pool, a grill restaurant and bar, and sea facing rooms, with breakfast served every morning.
Stone Town on foot: On the day you land, a local guide walks you through the lanes of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, past the Old Fort, the carved wooden doors, Darajani Market and the old waterfront. It takes about two hours, then your driver takes you north.
A morning on the reef: Mnemba Atoll is one of the best snorkelling spots around Zanzibar. Your trip includes the boat, snorkelling gear, a guide and the conservation fee, with a chance of seeing dolphins on the way.
Sunset from a dhow: Nungwi's beach faces west, so the sun goes down over the water. On day three you watch it from the deck of a traditional dhow on a shared sail, or on a dhow of your own if you add the occasion upgrade.

Flight times vary by airline and travel date. This plan follows a morning departure in both directions, and your planner confirms the exact times on your written quote before you pay.
Day 1: Nairobi to Zanzibar
Morning: A Short Hop South Your flight to Zanzibar leaves JKIA in the morning and takes under two hours. Land at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and meet your driver in the arrivals hall.
Afternoon: Stone Town on Foot Your guide meets you in Stone Town for a walk of about two hours through its narrow lanes: the Old Fort, the carved wooden doors, the spice and fish stalls of Darajani Market and the old waterfront. Stop for a late lunch in town before the drive north.
Evening: Your First Sunset in Nungwi Arrive in Nungwi, check in and walk straight down to the beach. The sun sets over the sea here, and the first one is the moment the trip really begins.

Day 2: A Morning on the Reef
Morning: Out to Mnemba After breakfast you are collected for your snorkelling trip to Mnemba Atoll. Swim over coral in clear water with your guide, and keep watch for dolphins on the boat ride.
Afternoon: Rest and Shade Back at the hotel, spend the afternoon by the pool or napping in the shade. The reef takes more out of you than you expect.
Evening: Dinner on the Sand Pick one of Nungwi's beach restaurants for fresh fish and Swahili dishes under the stars.

Day 3: The Dhow Evening
Morning: Nowhere to Be Sleep in, take a late breakfast and let the day start slowly. This is the quietest morning of the trip, on purpose.
Afternoon: The Dhow Builders Walk along the beach to watch the dhow builders working on the sand, as they have for generations, before heading back to get ready for the evening.
Evening: Sunset Sail Board a traditional dhow in the late afternoon for a shared sunset cruise along the Nungwi coast, with drinks, light snacks and the crew's stories of the island. If you added an occasion upgrade, this is usually the evening we build it around.

Day 4: An Island Day Your Way
