This Amboseli night safari adds one night on a private conservancy to your trip, with a night game drive to find the animals that only come out after dark.
Amboseli National Park closes its gates at dusk, and night drives are not allowed inside it. The wildlife does not stop at the boundary, though. On the private conservancies around the park, guided night drives are permitted, and that is where this trip takes you.
You spend one night at Elerai Camp, on the Elerai conservancy near Amboseli. The afternoon starts with a game drive on the conservancy and a shared bush sundowner. After dinner, you head out again with a guide and a spotlight to look for the animals that stay hidden by day: hyena on the move, bushbabies in the acacias, genets crossing the track and, with some luck, an aardvark. Night sightings are never guaranteed, which is part of what makes each one feel earned.
The next morning brings a dawn drive or a guided walk on the conservancy, something else the national park does not allow, before breakfast and your onward journey. It is built for people already in Amboseli who want to see the other half of the day. See all our night safaris in Kenya.

Night Drives, Legally: Night drives are only permitted on the conservancies around Amboseli, not inside the national park. Elerai's conservancy is one of them.
One Night, Fully Loaded: Elerai's package rate covers full board, the night drive, shared game drives on the conservancy, a guided walk and a shared bush sundowner.
Walking Safari: A guided walk on the conservancy lets you read tracks and see the bush at ground level, an experience the park itself does not offer.
Easy to Add On: Designed for guests already in Amboseli, whether you are on one of our road packages, staying near Kimana Gate or passing through.
Free Station and Airstrip Transfers: Arriving by train or plane? Transfers from the local airstrip and Emali SGR station are included in Elerai's package.
Conservancy Fees Included: The community bednight and wildlife conservation fee, which supports the local community and conservation work, is already in the price.

Day 1: Into the Night
Morning: Getting to Elerai Finish your morning wherever you are staying in Amboseli, then make your way to Elerai Camp, arriving from early afternoon. We can arrange a transfer from your current camp, or collect you from the local airstrip or Emali SGR station at no extra cost.
Afternoon: Conservancy Drive and Sundowner Settle in, then head out on a shared game drive across the conservancy as the heat eases. The drive ends with a shared bush sundowner as the light goes.
Evening: The Night Drive Dinner at camp, then out again with your guide and a spotlight. Hyena, bushbabies and genets are the animals most often seen after dark, and every drive is different.
Day 2: First Light
Morning: Dawn Drive or Guided Walk An early game drive, or a guided walk on the conservancy with a Maasai guide, while the air is still cool. Back to camp for breakfast.
Afternoon: Onward Journey Check out and continue your trip: back to your camp, to the airstrip, to Emali SGR station, or on to your next destination.
Evening: Wherever You Go Next The night drive stories travel with you.
