The balloon typically reaches 300–500 metres above ground, offering panoramic views across the entire reserve and into Tanzania's Serengeti beyond.
The Great Migration from above — Jul–Oct only: During migration season, tens of thousands of wildebeest are visible from the air as continuous dark rivers moving across the plains. Gently awakened at your Mara lodge or camp. Hot coffee, tea, and cocoa served en route to the launch site in a Baecation vehicle.
05:15 AM — Arrival at Balloon Launch Site
Meet your certified pilot and crew. Watch the balloon inflate in the soft glow of dawn as the Mara awakens around you — already one of the most atmospheric moments of the experience.
06:00 AM — Takeoff & Aerial Safari
Lift off gently into the Mara sky. One hour of floating silently above the golden plains — elephant herds, lion prides, giraffe at eye level, the full sweep of the Mara and Serengeti visible on the horizon. During July to October, the Great Migration fills the plains below.
07:00 AM — Landing & Champagne Bush Breakfast
Land safely in the bush and sit down to a gourmet breakfast served on white linen, with champagne in the open air. Your flight certificate is presented. Take your time — there is nowhere else to be.
