You begin at Elerai Camp, perched on a 5,000-acre private conservation area 12 kilometres southeast of Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Africa's highest mountain. Every tent faces Kilimanjaro. From the moment you wake, it is there — enormous, snow-capped, closer than you ever imagined a mountain could feel. Resident elephants wander past the camp's floodlit waterhole.
Maasai warriors escort you between your tent and the dining area after dark. And because Elerai sits on private land rather than inside the park, you are free to do what most Amboseli camps cannot offer — night game drives, guided bush walks, off-road encounters, and private sundowners in the middle of the conservancy with that mountain behind you.
