Governors’ Il Moran Camp – Ultra-Luxury Flying Safari, Mara River & 3 Daily Game Drives | 4 Days 3 Nights
Governors' Il Moran Camp, Musiara Sector, Maasai Mara National Reserve
Kenya Flying Safaris
There is a reason serious safari travellers — the ones who have been to the Mara ten times and could stay anywhere — keep coming back to Governors' Il Moran Camp. It is not the largest camp. It is not the newest. It does not have a spa or a plunge pool or a Canon photography studio. What it has is ten tents on the Mara River, in the Musiara Sector — widely regarded as the single best game-viewing territory in the entire reserve — with the Marsh Pride lion family whose territory overlaps the camp perimeter. They walk between the tents at night. Your guide gives you daily pride movement updates over breakfast. And every morning, three game drives are available instead of the standard two — meaning you can chase the golden hour light on the cats without rushing back.
Each of Il Moran's ten spacious safari tents has recently been refurbished with a light and airy feel, furnished with a hand-carved king-sized olive-wood bed made locally from reclaimed wood, a heavy wooden writing desk with copper lamp, and a large comfortable sofa. The en-suite bathrooms feature twin washbasins, walk-in showers, and a freestanding claw-foot bathtub.
Meals are served on a raised wooden deck providing panoramic views of the Mara River and its wildlife — continental and full English breakfasts, fresh salad buffets for lunch, and à la carte dinners. A central sunken fire pit is lit in the evenings. The camp faces active hippo pools. Crocodiles drift past the bank. And during July to October, the Great Migration river crossings happen directly in front of the camp — without you needing to drive anywhere at all.
This 4-day, 3-night flying safari from Nairobi is Baecation Adventures' most exclusive Mara package. The 45-minute Governors' Aviation flight from Wilson Airport lands at Musiara Airstrip — the only airstrip with direct access to the Musiara Sector, no gate to pass through. You step off the plane and you are already inside the reserve. A short transfer and you are at the camp. An afternoon game drive begins within the hour.
Special offer: Book four nights and pay for three — valid January to May and October to December 15, 2026. New bookings only; flights must be booked through Governors' Aviation to qualify.

About Package
More information about this package
10 tents on the Mara River — inside the reserve, no gate to pass through: Governors' Il Moran sits in the Musiara Sector directly on the Mara River. There is no gate to pass through — you wake up already inside the reserve, with the Marsh Pride's territory overlapping the camp perimeter and lions walking between tents at night.
3 game drives daily — more than any other Mara camp at this level: Most Mara camps offer two game drives per day. Il Moran offers three — an early morning drive, a late afternoon drive, and a midday option — meaning you can catch the golden hour light on the Marsh Pride without rushing, split your day across different wildlife activities, and maximise every hour in one of Africa's greatest game-viewing territories.
Claw-foot bathtubs, olive-wood king beds and a sunken fire pit: Each tent features a hand-carved king-sized olive-wood bed made locally from reclaimed wood, heavy carpets and cowhide floors, and a large en-suite bathroom with a freestanding claw-foot bathtub and walk-in shower. The central sunken fire pit in the main area is lit every evening — the gathering point for guests as hippos call from the river below.
The Great Migration river crossings — visible from camp, Jul–Oct: During migration season, wildebeest river crossings happen directly in front of the camp along the Mara River — without driving anywhere. Book 6–9 months ahead for July to September; with only 10 tents, Il Moran sells out faster than any other Mara camp.
Gold Eco-Rating from Ecotourism Kenya: Governors' Il Moran Camp has been awarded a Gold Eco Rating by Ecotourism Kenya for its environmental practices and community engagement — the highest rating available, recognising Il Moran's solar power use, waste management, and its longstanding Maasai community partnership.
Stay 4 Pay 3 — Baecation's best value Il Moran offer: Book four nights and pay for three — valid January to May and October to December 15, 2026. New bookings only; flights must be booked through Governors' Aviation to qualify. For a 4-night honeymoon stay, this represents a saving of one full night's accommodation — effectively 25% off at regular season rates.
