Destination: Hell’s Gate National Park, Naivasha Duration: 13 Hours (5:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
5:00 AM – Departure from Nairobi Start your adventure with an early morning departure from a central meeting point in Nairobi. Enjoy the scenic drive to Naivasha, as the sun rises over Kenya’s beautiful countryside.
8:00 AM – Arrival at Hell’s Gate National Park Arrive at the park’s main gate and meet your guide for a brief orientation. The guide will share safety tips and insights into the park’s geology, history, and wildlife. Here, you’ll have the option to rent bicycles for a unique cycling experience or explore other optional activities like rock climbing or swimming at the Olkaria Geothermal Spa.
8:30 AM – Begin the Hike to the Lower Gorge Embark on your guided hike along Hell’s Gate’s famous scenic trails. Marvel at the towering cliffs, unique rock formations, and vast plains as you head toward the Lower Gorge. Keep an eye out for wildlife like zebras, giraffes, and warthogs along the way.
11:30 AM – Explore the Lower Gorge Arrive at the stunning Lower Gorge and take a well-earned break. Enjoy some time to relax, capture incredible photos, and soak in the dramatic beauty of this geological masterpiece. Refuel with a packed picnic lunch in the tranquil surroundings.
12:30 PM – Continue the Hike to the Hot Springs Resume your hike through the rugged terrain as you make your way toward the hot springs. The route offers more incredible rock formations and an up-close look at the geothermal activity that defines the park.
3:00 PM – Arrival at the Hot Springs Reach the natural hot springs, where you can unwind, take photos, and enjoy refreshments amidst the steamy, serene environment. Your guide will share stories about the springs’ significance and the natural forces that created them.
4:00 PM – Return Hike to the Starting Point Begin your return hike, retracing your steps through the breathtaking trails. For those looking for additional relaxation, an optional swim at the Olkaria Geothermal Spa is available (fees apply).
6:00 PM – Arrival Back in Nairobi Conclude your journey and arrive back in Nairobi with a sense of accomplishment and incredible memories from your Hell’s Gate adventure.
