Governors' Mugie House (Night 1) + Ol Pejeta Bush Camp (Nights 2–3) + Solio Lodge (Night 4)

Conservancy & Rare Species Safaris

Laikipia is Kenya's conservation capital. Not because it has one famous park, but because it has dozens of privately managed conservancies — each protecting different species, different ecosystems, and different community models — spread across a plateau north of Mount Kenya that wildlife biologists consider one of the most important habitats in all of Africa.

This 5-day, 4-night Laikipia Conservancy safaris moves through three of the most significant: Governors' Mugie House, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, and Solio Lodge. Three nights, three conservancies, three completely different conservation stories — and one continuous thread of wildlife, wilderness, and the kind of immersion that can only happen when you leave the national parks behind and step into the private land where the real conservation work gets done.

At Governors' Mugie House — eight individually designed stone cottages on a hill with sweeping views of the Laikipia plains — you track Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and African wild dog with a private guide, join the anti-poaching team and their bloodhounds on a dawn patrol, and stay in Mugie's dedicated honeymoon suite with its own private plunge pool on the veranda. At Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, seven riverside tents on the Ewaso Ng'iro give you access to the world's last two northern white rhinos and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. And at Solio Lodge — the only accommodation on one of Africa's most successful private rhino breeding sanctuaries — you may see up to 40 rhinos in a single game drive, with Mount Kenya and the Aberdares as the backdrop.

This is not a safari for people who want to tick boxes. It is a safari for people who want to understand what is being done to keep Africa wild — and to be part of it for five extraordinary days.

About Package

More information about this package

Governors' Mugie House — honeymoon suite with private plunge pool: One of eight individually designed stone cottages on a Laikipia hilltop, the dedicated honeymoon suite has floor-to-ceiling French windows, breathtaking views of the Laikipia plains and Mount Kenya, and a private plunge pool on the veranda. No two cottages at Mugie House look the same — each is furnished individually to the highest standard.

Bloodhound anti-poaching patrol — Mugie's signature conservation experience: Mugie Conservancy's ranger team operates daily anti-poaching patrols with a trained pack of bloodhounds. Guests can join a tracking demonstration — including being hidden as the "poacher" while the hounds locate you — for an insight into real-time conservation work that no national park can offer.

Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe & African wild dog in Mugie Conservancy: Mugie's 50,000 acres support populations of Kenya's rarest northern rangeland species — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Jackson's hartebeest, and Beisa oryx — alongside lion and cheetah monitored through the conservancy's collaring programme in partnership with the Laikipia Predator Project.

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp — the world's last two northern white rhinos: Seven riverside tents on the Ewaso Ng'iro in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, with access to the Endangered Species Enclosure where Najin and Fatu — the last two northern white rhinos on Earth — live under 24-hour protection, and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya.

Solio Lodge — up to 40 rhinos in a single game drive: The only accommodation on Solio Ranch, a private 45,000-acre conservancy internationally recognised as one of Africa's most successful rhino breeding programmes. Six stone cottages, each with an open fireplace and panoramic views, within a conservancy where both black and white rhino roam in extraordinary density.

3 conservancies, 3 conservation models, one extraordinary journey: Mugie focuses on predator protection and community grazing reform. Ol Pejeta leads the world in northern white rhino conservation and chimpanzee rescue. Solio Ranch pioneered private rhino breeding in East Africa. Together they represent fifty years of Kenya's conservation evolution — told through five days of intimate, exclusive game drives.
