How Much Does an Amboseli Safari Cost in 2026?
The cost of an Amboseli safari package depends on four things: the number of days, your accommodation level, the travel season and your vehicle.
Park fees are part of every price. Amboseli is currently one of the better value parks in Kenya for park fees. Adult entry is KES 1,500 for East African citizens, KES 2,025 for Kenya residents and USD 90 for non residents, per 24 hours. By comparison, the Masai Mara charges non residents USD 100 per day from January to June and USD 200 from July to December in 2026, and Kenyan citizens KES 1,500 rising to KES 3,000. So for a July to December safari, Amboseli park fees can be half those of the Mara.
As a general guide, Amboseli safari packages start from KES 35,000 per person for group joining safaris and go up to KES 100,000 plus per person for luxury private safaris. Flying safaris and hot air balloon flights cost more.

1. Group Joining Amboseli Safari Packages
If you are travelling on a budget, our group joining Amboseli safari is a great option. It runs as a 3 day, 2 night trip leaving Nairobi on Fridays, in a shared Toyota Hiace tour van with a pop up roof, with a maximum of seven guests so everyone gets a window. It is popular during long weekends and holiday seasons such as Easter, Christmas and public holidays.
One advantage of group safaris is flexibility in payment. At Baecation Adventures, we allow flexible payment plans where you pay in instalments before the travel date. Obviously, this makes it easier to plan early and avoid last minute pressure.
2. Private and Mid Range Amboseli Safari Packages
Private Amboseli safaris are ideal for families and friends who want their own van, their own guide and their own pace. Our standard base is Sentrim Amboseli, a tented camp with a pool about 3 km from Kimana Gate.

3. Luxury Amboseli Safari Packages
Luxury Amboseli safari packages are designed for travellers who want maximum comfort and exclusivity. Transport is by 4 by 4 Toyota Land Cruiser, sourced from our sister company, Bamm Tours.
Luxury options include lodges inside the park, such as Ol Tukai Lodge and Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, and camps on private conservancies around the park, such as Tawi Lodge, Elerai Camp, Tortilis Camp and Porini Amboseli. The conservancies offer fewer vehicles and activities the national park does not allow, such as guided walks and night game drives.

How Many Days Do You Need in Amboseli?
Most travellers need 3 days and 2 nights. That gives you an afternoon drive on arrival, a full day in the park and a final morning drive before heading home. You can also combine Amboseli with another bush safari or the beach, or with your favourite sports activities.
1 Day Amboseli Safari
We can also arrange a 1 day trip from Nairobi to Amboseli and back, although it is a long day with about eight to ten hours on the road. I remember taking two professional trainers, Liz and Emily, who only had one free day and wanted to see Amboseli on their last day in Kenya. Together, we made that dream possible. Their trip cost about $500 per person, including park fees, van hire and lunch at Ol Tukai Lodge. Day trip prices depend on group size and season, so ask us for today’s figure.
2 Day Amboseli Safari
Two day Amboseli safaris suit travellers with limited time. You get an afternoon and a morning game drive, then return. This option works best as a flying safari, which saves most of a day on the road.
3 Day Amboseli Safari
Three day Amboseli safaris are the most popular. They allow relaxed travel, a full day in the park and time to enjoy your camp without rushing. This option gives the best balance between time and value.
4 Day Amboseli Safari
Four day safaris suit honeymooners and travellers who want to slow down. Longer stays leave room for cultural visits, a night on a private conservancy or a hot air balloon flight. Couples can see our Amboseli honeymoon package, which gives you three dawns to catch Kilimanjaro.
When Is the Best Time for an Amboseli Safari?
The best time to visit Amboseli is June to October and January to February, when it is dry and wildlife gathers around the swamps. The long rains usually fall from March to May and the short rains around November and December. The park stays open all year, and the green season brings fewer vehicles and lower lodge rates.
How to Get to Amboseli from Nairobi
Transport plays a big role in your safari experience, and we offer options for every budget and group size.
By road, most safaris follow Mombasa Road to Emali, then the tarmac road south through Kimana to Kimana Gate, about four to five hours in total. We use Toyota Hiace tour vans for economical group safaris and 4 by 4 Land Cruisers for private and luxury safaris. For large groups, overland trucks are available through Bamm Tours, ideal for corporate and social travel.
By train, you can take the SGR to Emali station, where we pick you up. On your way to Mombasa, we can also drop you at the station to continue to the coast.
