Tsavo Couples Safari Packages | Baecation Adventures

Tsavo East is a red country. The soil is red, the dust is red, and the elephants wear it after every wallow. It is also the easiest big park in Kenya to reach by rail.

That is the idea behind our Tsavo couples safari packages. You ride the Madaraka Express to Voi, and a private safari van meets you on the platform. Couples from Mombasa skip the station, because the same van collects them at their hotel.

Tsavo Couples Safari Packages by Train, for Every Occasion.

There are seven trips, one for each reason couples travel. Each is private, priced for two and built around a moment of its own.

How every Tsavo trip works

Affordable Surprise Tsavo SGR Safari 3 Days 2 NightsNairobi couples board the 8:00 am train at Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau. It reaches Voi at 12:02 pm, in time for lunch and an afternoon drive. On the last day, the 4:38 pm train gets you back to Nairobi at 8:18 pm.

Your base is Sentrim Tsavo, a tented camp inside Tsavo East. It has 21 canvas tents and 5 stone-walled rooms, each with a balcony facing the bush. Elephants drink at a waterhole within sight of the dining area.

A word on wildlife, because honesty matters here. Tsavo East holds four of the Big Five. Elephants and buffalo appear most days and lions often. Leopards need luck. There are no rhinos on this side of the park. They live in the Tsavo West Rhino Sanctuary, where sightings are rare.

1. Affordable Honeymoon Tsavo SGR Safari

Affordable Honeymoon Tsavo SGR Safari 4 Days 3 NightsThe Affordable Honeymoon Tsavo SGR Safari is the longest trip in the set. You get four days and three nights. The extra night gives you a slow afternoon with nothing booked.

Day three crosses the highway into Tsavo West. Mzima Springs rises there, clear water fed through the Chyulu Hills. You walk the trail and look for hippos from the underwater viewing point.

A honeymoon cake waits at dinner that night. Couples who want more can upgrade to Satao Camp, deep in Tsavo East. Satao includes its own game drives, soft drinks, beer and house wine.

2. Affordable Anniversary Tsavo SGR Safari

Affordable Anniversary Tsavo SGR Safari 3 Days 2 NightsThe Affordable Anniversary Tsavo SGR Safari is built around one afternoon. Your guide takes you up Mudanda Rock, a long outcrop once used as a lookout.

At the top, you each say one promise for the year ahead. Nobody else is listening. The plains run out in every direction below you.

Dinner that evening is at a table facing the waterhole. An anniversary cake arrives with dessert. The next morning brings one last dawn drive before the train home.

3. Affordable Proposal Tsavo SGR Safari

Affordable Proposal Tsavo SGR Safari 3 Days 2 NightsThe Affordable Proposal Tsavo SGR Safari keeps your secret for you. Your partner thinks it is a simple weekend in the bush. Only you and your guide know otherwise.

On day two, you both head out on an afternoon drive. Meanwhile, the camp dresses your tent balcony with sparkling wine, glasses and flowers. Your guide times the return for sunset.

You walk up to the tent together. Your partner sees the balcony, and the rest is up to you. Dinner that night is your first as an engaged couple.

4. Affordable Surprise Tsavo SGR Safari

The Affordable Surprise Tsavo SGR Safari uses the train as a disguise. The Madaraka Express runs on to Mombasa. Most people who board it assume they are heading for the beach.

Let your partner believe that. Tell them to pack for heat and bring their ID. When the train slows for Voi, you stand up and take the bags down.

On the platform, your guide hands your partner a pair of binoculars. That is the reveal. Mombasa couples get the same moment at Voi Gate instead.

5. Affordable Birthday Tsavo SGR Safari

Affordable Birthday Tsavo SGR Safari 3 Days 2 NightsThe Affordable Birthday Tsavo SGR Safari starts with a welcome. Your guide waits on the Voi platform with a sign bearing the birthday person’s name.

The birthday itself belongs to the Galana River. On day two, you leave early with breakfast boxes. You eat at Lugard Falls, where the river pushes through a run of rock rapids.

That evening, a birthday cake comes to your table beside the waterhole. Stay by the fire as long as you like, since the next morning starts gently.

6. Affordable Vacation Tsavo SGR Safari

The Affordable Vacation Tsavo SGR Safari is a holiday first and a safari second. Expect early drives, a pool and plenty of time to do nothing.

A fruit platter and a handwritten card wait in your tent on arrival. The pool has its own bar, and a bonfire burns after dinner.

On day two, your guide takes you to the corner of Tsavo East they love most. You hear why it matters to them. Then you stay there for the sunset.

7. Affordable Getaway Tsavo SGR Safari

Affordable Getaway Tsavo SGR Safari 3 Days 2 NightsThe Affordable Getaway Tsavo SGR Safari needs no occasion at all. A free weekend is reason enough. It is also the lowest-priced trip in the set.

Day two is spent at Aruba Dam, a wide sheet of water in the east of the park. Animals come in to drink there, especially in the dry months.

The only rule is that nobody checks the time. You stay as long as the water holds your attention. Your guide turns for camp when you say so.

Upgrades worth knowing about

Every package can move to Manyatta Camp near Voi Gate, as an add-on. Each tent there has its own private plunge pool. It adds KES 17,200 per couple for two nights.

Honeymooners can also upgrade to Satao Camp, a luxury tented camp in the middle of Tsavo East. The package pages list both upgrades with full prices.

When to go and what the parks charge

Tsavo is open all year. June to October and January to February are the driest months, when animals gather at water. Our lowest prices apply from April to June and from November to mid-December.

Tsavo East and Tsavo West charge the same entry fee. Adults pay KES 1,000 as East African citizens and KES 1,350 as Kenya residents. Non-residents pay USD 80. Each ticket covers 24 hours, and our packages already include them.

Frequently asked questions about Tsavo Couples Safari Packages by Train

How do we get to Tsavo by train?

Take the 8:00 am Madaraka Express from Nairobi Terminus in Syokimau. It stops at Voi at 12:02 pm. Your driver-guide meets you on the platform with a private safari van.

Can we start from Mombasa instead?

Yes. The safari van collects you at your Mombasa hotel and drives you up to Tsavo. It brings you back on the last day, and the price is lower because there is no train fare.

Will we see the Big Five in Tsavo East?

You can see four of them. Elephants and buffalo are common, lions are seen often, and leopards need luck. Rhinos live in Tsavo West, where sightings are rare.

Why are Tsavo elephants red?

Tsavo’s soil is rich in iron and red in colour. Elephants dust and wallow in it to protect their skin, so they carry the colour with them.

Where do we stay?

You stay at Sentrim Tsavo or similar, a tented camp inside Tsavo East. Manyatta Camp and Satao Camp are available as upgrades.

Are park fees included?

Yes. Every package includes Tsavo park entry and vehicle fees. Kenya residents who are not East African citizens pay a small supplement, shown on each package page.
